I love those editions and the James Marsh covers. We drift a little further into Ballard’s world with each passing day.

In relentlessly troubling times, The Other Bennet Sister on the BBC is a funny, warm-hearted tonic. Ella Bruccoleri has a great range of silent comedian expressions.

I haven’t seen it, but forty-year-old Fry and Laurie sketches is a selling point for me.

God that’s a long time. It was just a few months for me. Mind you I had other health conditions which might have nudged me up the list a bit #oldpunks

Is the NHS wait too long? I don’t think I had to wait too long for mine overall. I have a machine now and it has made a difference.

Post-Christmas walk on the beach, mostly deserted except for one fellow ambler in the distance. Found some kid’s toy whistle in the sand, gave it a blow for a laugh. Looking forward to a decent night’s sleep when I get back to the hotel.

Don’t forget to factor in that when the food does arrive the cat will have decided they don’t like it any more.

They’ve done up the prom and have a small sculpture trail but it’s not really touristy. The main shopping street has loads of good charity shops and a couple of bookshops - maybe one arcade.

We never put any food out or approach them (there have been two different ones). They seem to come over in a spirit of genuine curiosity, as far as we can tell.

By taking public ownership off the table from the start, the government’s "largest review of the water sector since privatisation" is just moving deck chairs on the Titanic. Privatisation is not a problem - it is THE problem. Sign my letter to Sir Jon Cunliffe: actionnetwork.org/petitions/si...

My favourite Manchester blue plaque, to be found on, yes, Balloon Street. The journey reached about seven miles, and it doesn’t mention the fact that Sadler was accompanied by a cat. I imagine the film being narrated by Oliver Postgate

I saw the original lineup at the Milton Keynes Bowl Ozzfest in 2001, back when a rock all-dayer held no fears. I’d have to battle them for their oxygen tents if I went now (I’m not going)
