Bizarre coincidence, as I posted earlier today about my 1996 student documentary on this topic (which includes the guy who started the whole Kubrick rumor). Maye is "not 200% sure" and took a course in college on whether Hitler really died and if birds are real.

2/ One of Bill’s arguments was that National Geographic magazine was in on the scam, as a longtime sponsor of the corporate-government industrial complex. (Of course, another of Bill’s theories was that OJ Simpson was also in on it, and that’s why he was framed for murder.)

I hate to kick the Times when it's still at least a newspaper, while the WaPo has become Trump's personal newsletter and the WSJ continues to be the mouthpiece of the plutocracy. But as Bacon notes, the Times's very stature is precisely what make its shortcomings so dangerous.

Far less dramatic, but more than 30 years ago, when I had a skydiving accident, another jumper—who happened to be an off-duty doctor waiting to get on the same plane I had just jumped out of—ran over and came to my aid until an ambulance arrived. There are still good people in the world.
