Over the past couple years I've been checking out fantasy novels from the 90s. Some of which being the starts to some giant series (in length and popularity) #fantasy #booksky #booktube #reading #tbr #gameofthrones #wheeloftime Check out my thoughts about them here: youtu.be/EyS7UM6L6f4?...

My wip #UnderneathEverySmile is loaded with music from the 2010s. The title is taken from the I See Stars song of the same name.

Hey #writingcommunity I'm Robert and I have too many irons in the fire (typical). Top of mind: Underneath Every Smile my pseudo autobiographical drama, Dreams of Machines my steampunk romp, and Somnio my horror anthology/series. I love to use music as inspiration and distraction 😌

“There’s a new Mr. Beast book.” You bolt awake in your workshop in Mainz. It’s 1450. You’re Johannes Gutenberg, and you’ve changed your mind. The future cannot come to pass. Your printing press must burn.

This will be my second reread but I've listened to the audiobook a couple times. (I've seen the movie a million and 1 times)

Finished The Clockwork Three and it gave me some inspiration for my two steampunk ideas. Started Jurassic Park again; hopefully I'll have that finished before I start Gravity's Rainbow by Pynchon in September. #booksky #readsky #TBR

Going for walks has proven useful to get the mind working for reflection and contemplation. Reviewed two script ideas that I want to transition to novel manuscripts instead. I need to go for walks more often.

Twelve more graves need to be dug this week. Between that and maintenance I’m at my wits end. I wish I could hire at least one hand to help me with this. Usually I can handle the work load. Normally people don’t die this fast but this damn flu. It’s a ravager, I can’t keep up. My hands are shaking even now with fatigue from shoveling. I’m going to petition for two more hands at least for the weekend to keep up with this.
I figured that after the war ended and the killing had stopped I would have had some down time. At this rate the whole damn place will be full before too long.

The pull of void, the call of the abyss. Feeble attempts to scurry from that blasted FRONTIER. (Edge) #wipsnips #authoraugust #writesky #UnderneathEverySmile

She took refuge on the couch as she manifested the energy to move to the final stop. Her eyes stared blankly without recognition, the glow of the computer screen finally gone as it too went to sleep. The only light coming from the red glow of the internet modem. A faint stop light doing its best to keep her seated. Transfixed, she went over all the past saving throws. All the leaps away from the edge when the intrusive thoughts lost sway long enough to be overcome in a burst of fragile self-preservation. None would apply now. Incompatible with the circumstances, no match for the pull of the edge.

Me: Super excited to see friends writing and sharing their thoughts about things, even if it's just a little blog post or quick video talking head. Also me: "no one will want to read my stupid little blog post or talking head video of my genuine thoughts."

I'm bad at creating content for YouTube, as I never know how to address the camera. I have an idea though. I'm gonna try it when I get some time and see how it goes.

I was using word exclusively for years but then I got tired of paying every year for a subscription to Microsoft. And i'm not a big fan of cloud services, i wanted hard copies on my computer so I switched back to Scriv. It's not intuitive but i like the tools it has.

19. Anna Karenina - Tolstoy I'm quite the enjoyer of 19th century Russian lit (see Dostoevsky) but I did not enjoy reading AK. It felt unnecessarily long, barely about the titular character and without a central thesis aside from, rich people gonna be assholes. IDK wasn't my thing.

Robert Mead @robertmeadauthor.bsky.social · 04/08/2026

15. Final Girl Support Group by Grady Hendrix picks up where the horror movies end with the lone survivor (Final Girl) trying to put her life back together. They've found one another and have a therapy like meeting but one has stopped showing up. If you like slashers, you'll enjoy this.
