Robert Henschel @roberthenschel.bsky.social · 08/09/2026ThinLinc is available in a beta version for #Arm64, via the ThinLinc download page: www.cendio.com/thinlinc/dow... The beta was tested on Raspberry Pi, NVIDIA DGX Spark and Ampere VMs in Azure. Looking for other testers in #HPC and #HPCDesktop use cases. 010
Robert Henschel @roberthenschel.bsky.social · 01/09/2026Patchwork looks really interesting, thanks for sharing @inkandswitch.com I have been playing with object abstractions and compound documents lately (aka OpenDoc) and I am super interested in this topic. Any chance I could reach out and have a conversation with someone on the team? 110

Robert Henschel @roberthenschel.bsky.social · 08/08/2026And in a follow up interview, to explain his remarks... he boasted about Purdue having the 8th largest alumni base. Only to have the Interviewer remind him who has the largest living alumni base... right... IU. 🤦🏼♂️ Not his week... 020
Robert Henschel @roberthenschel.bsky.social · 29/07/2026I worked with VSMP-ScaleMP on another NSF grant was fascinated by the capabilities. But we encountered the same issue, few users were smart enough to implement first touch and few codes ran well out of the box. 000
Robert Henschel @roberthenschel.bsky.social · 29/07/2026Excellent keynote about exploring failures by @glennklockwood.com at #HPC #PEARC26 030

Robert Henschel @roberthenschel.bsky.social · 27/07/2026Let's talk about #HPCDesktops and ThinLinc at #HPC #PEARC26. I am thankful to Cambridge Computer for allowing us to exhibit at their partners pavilion. 120

Robert Henschel @roberthenschel.bsky.social · 26/05/2026Over the last months, I posted application demos for #HPC and the #HPCDesktop . If you are at #ISC26 and would like to connect, I would love to chat! I am in Hamburg all week. Please reach out via DM on LinkedIn, X or Bluesky, or send me email! I would love to get together over a coffee. 021
Robert Henschel @roberthenschel.bsky.social · 29/04/2026Yesterday I gave a short talk about building #HPCDesktops with ThinLinc at CUG 2026. I had a number of good conversations after the talk, and I am really enjoying the conference! #HPC #CUG2026 011
Reposted by Robert HenschelRichard Knepper @rknepper.bsky.social · 14/04/2026Registration for Linux Clusters Institute Intermediate Workshop is now open! June 1-5 at Swarthmore College. Details at linuxclustersinstitute.org/2026-lci-int... 011
Robert Henschel @roberthenschel.bsky.social · 10/04/2026Correct. And you don't have to trust Claude's build-in safeguards, which may not work when Claude executes binaries or writes it's own code. The container (and the Linux kernel) enforce the limits on a lower level. 000
Robert Henschel @roberthenschel.bsky.social · 10/04/2026It really depends on your needs. We have users that have access to data that MUST NOT leak. For those, the only way to use AI at least in a limited fashion is in a container. "Inconvenient" beats "impossible". 😎 100
Robert Henschel @roberthenschel.bsky.social · 10/04/2026Apptainer is also the only such tool available on our HPC systems. 😁 000
Robert Henschel @roberthenschel.bsky.social · 10/04/2026Here is a screenshot of the cmdln version. The first parameter is the directory to be "mounted inside the container", and all other parameters are passed through to Claude. Behind the scenes it "module load apptainer", pulls a minimal container, configures the "bind mounts" and starts Claude. 110
Robert Henschel @roberthenschel.bsky.social · 10/04/2026The story is easy access to AI in an #HPC environment, with limitations enforced by the container and not by Claude settings. The limitations extend to Claude's tool calls and applications because everything runs in the container. Not new, but existing capabilities exposed in a user friendly fashion 020
Robert Henschel @roberthenschel.bsky.social · 10/04/2026Worried about Claude Code accessing sensitive data? How about an icon on the #HPCDesktop that limits Claude's access? I prototyped this using #Apptainer. This enforces real limits for Claude Code and any app it launches. (and for the #HPC folks, there is also a cmdln version 😎) 440

Robert Henschel @roberthenschel.bsky.social · 23/02/2026This is my first time at the #EnergyHPCAI conference. Looking forward to it! I will be representing Cendio ThinLinc at the conference. 000
Robert Henschel @roberthenschel.bsky.social · 17/02/2026I use LLAMA 4 Scout and it works well and fast on H100s. The parameters are pretty limited and the sacct syntax is pretty straightforward as well. 110
Robert Henschel @roberthenschel.bsky.social · 16/02/2026Don't have a GUI environment available on your #HPC system, thats unfortunate and you should consider an #HPCDEsktop... but converting to a TUI was an easy one-shot by the LLM. 🤯 010
Robert Henschel @roberthenschel.bsky.social · 16/02/2026In 90 minutes I went from idea to prototype, thanks to Cursor/Opus 4.6. My app uses a local LLM to turn text into #SLURM sacct/squeue calls and then shows the result in a table. It's not perfect; the system prompt needs tuning; but amazing what is possible as a user on an #HPC system. #HPCDesktop 241
Robert Henschel @roberthenschel.bsky.social · 26/01/2026Are you working on something cool related to interactive or urgent #HPC? Please consider submitting to our workshop at #ISC26. Paper submission closes on March 25th! Reach out with questions! 012
Robert Henschel @roberthenschel.bsky.social · 12/01/2026Looking for feedback on an #HPC "batch job wizard", as shown in the video. The core idea is to iteratively build a #Slurm job script, highlighting the relation between the GUI and the Slurm directives. The video shows a prototype QT/Python app on an #HPCDesktop. Could this work for new HPC users? 031
Robert Henschel @roberthenschel.bsky.social · 23/12/2025"The year in code" is a really fun way to summarize how I used Cursor this year. No surprise here... I mostly use Claude Sonnet and Opus. 000
