He puts a bullet point list of a private discussion he had with the head coach and he has these two points, supposedly spoken by the head coach

Absolute pure Flemish countryside. Two absolute monster motorways a km either side and if you're born here you'd consider yourself from a village, despite being a 10 minute walk from a tram that takes you to the 5th biggest city in Belgium in less than 20 minutes. Unbeatable. Nonsensical.

Picked this up based on the recommendation from American critic Tom Leclair. A set of dreamings that double-up as a type of world-knowing. Fiction, I think.

Nighttime reading for an on-going piece. I never ever use this terminology - but WHH is truly one of Britain's genuine heroes.

Was reading Tom Leclair's essay in the art of excess on GR today, and picked up another thread of how to read the book.

One of my favourite minor things in life is that if there's an American post-modernist novel over a thousand pages, that effectively ONLY Tom Leclair is allowed to review it.

Every time I listen, every time I remember. 10/10 album. Flawless. In Patrick Wolf's own lyrics in 'Teignmouth', "in skewed ascension, with no destination".

Oh hell yeah. I will say it again. The BEST new British artist there is.

Been putting this off a long time - but going to start the Wessex novels. Known about Powys for years through Colin Wilson & Iain Sinclair but I only have the outline, not the centre.

Bought this solely on the synopsis. Also I think Alicoha is the name of one of the characters from The Brothers Karamazov, which is a *sign*

I took out my exegesis on it in the end, but I saw it creep up in the album artwork for the MPTL Microplastics LP. You can see it underneath the crucified policeman. The article became an occult, theological & economic history of microplastics if interested: urblindspot.substack.com/p/mptl-micro...

Oh hell yeah. My favourite type of writing: Far-reaching ambiguity that is artistically ballasted by the roaring potential of the internet that is a great unknown canvas that will SURELY make sense of everything.

Went to SELL books but stumbled upon an old freak bookseller who had a new place and traded a few for these two. Not bad for Ghent, Belgium. Traded couple of Nabokovs and Infinite Jest.

I received an advanced copy of this and it is absolutely astonishing. A blend of Marcus Schwob, Anna Kavan, and The King in Yellow. So rich and strange, with the riparian tides of the short sections coaxing. Only read the Cathedral Of Mist short stories before, but this eclipses those.

It all brings to mind what Mark Fisher said, psychology is the understanding of why we do things that make us unhappy. Why are people doing this?

Tom McCarthy had this remark about how Finnegans Wake wasn't the end of literature but the beginning and would be the source code for the next form of fiction which I think in another Joyce article (about him working for Google(?)) he said would be hypertextual

For 2 years I was writing mostly UK Drill reviews. I am fascinated by the sound, one that reminds me of my youth in Edmonton. Paranoia, violence, being cut off from London, despite being a part of it. I marvel at those who made art in that environment. 10 years since my fav drill release - by 67
