Her last meal was at Barney’s Beanery on Santa Monica Blvd. Her favourite table, with all its fan messages, is affixed to the ceiling. For a long time, Barney’s was my favourite hangout whenever I was in LA.

The first British programme filmed in colour. Helped with sales to the US, who were horrified by the opening teaser segment “you’ve given away the plot!”, only to copy the idea later for action shows like Mission Impossible.

Saw him Live in Manchester, England. Halfway through his set he had to retune his guitar. To amuse us whilst he did that, he sang the Judy Garland line: “You made me love you (you woke me up to do it)”. Still makes me laugh. My wife not so.

They asked for permission to take photos there and were refused by the desk clerk. They then waited outside until the desk clerk disappeared, then snuck in and grabbed a few snaps, including the famous cover shots, before making a hasty retreat.

Agreed. He even has his own meme with ‘Elon Time’. But he does get there in the end. We forget a lot of things that he made happen, like returning an F9 booster and then reusing it, and multiple launches per week, another thing that was laughed at. Let’s wait and see.

All true. But we also have the fuel depots and HLS variants that will stay in orbit, all expected next year. You’re right about reusability, but we need to add in rapidity. I expect daily flights by the end of the decade, with the 15 launch pads they are building.

You’re correct. 26 starlink v3 comes out at just under 50 tonnes. I was including the mass of starship at 100 tonnes, plus fuel. Although starship can hoist 100 tonnes of payload to orbit in this version, and 200 tonnes in version 4, due next year.

Sputnik was 86kg. This launch put 200 tonnes into orbit, and de-orbited it safely. For comparison, the ISS is 400 tonnes and took 20 years to assemble.
