Sectoral output can be used as intermediate inputs by other sectors, or consumed as final goods. There are often substantial gaps between a sector’s direct energy use and the energy embodied in its final consumption goods. We explore this phenomenon for Ukrainian industry in 2020:

For our next #FigureoftheWeek, GDU presents a comparison of energy-use by sector. Sectoral shifts and energy-efficiency improvements in Poland and Romania drastically reduced energy use in the industrial sector and the economy, providing a hint of what could lie ahead for Ukraine.

Our newest #FigureOfTheWeek highlights the changes in Ukrainian electricity generation for 2023. Ukraine generated 7 TWh less #electricity this year than last, driven mainly by reductions in #nuclear, outweighing increases in #renewables and #hydro. tinyurl.com/bdh9bkjv
