Robert Carlson @robertcarlson.bsky.social · 23/01/2026Success. Can't brag, since all I did was dig through decades-old forums until I found example code my compiler actually works with, but I've got the video mode I want with DOS/4GW. Can address any pixel in a nice, linear array. Way friendlier than the 16-bit real-mode alternative. #gamedev #dos 152
Robert Carlson @robertcarlson.bsky.social · 29/11/2025One year and four weeks after The Amateur Deity Society launched on Steam, it's official: player reviews are Positive. Big thanks to @bluwiikoon.art for getting it over the finish line, and to everyone else who's played the game! #PointAndClick #InteractiveFiction 192
Robert Carlson @robertcarlson.bsky.social · 19/10/2024Mine's a text adventure/point-and-click hybrid hitting Steam in two weeks. Not much screenshot variety since it's mostly words, but I promise the game is dense with good words. That said, there's also a playable in-game retro desktop environment. store.steampowered.com/app/3241070?... 040
Robert Carlson @robertcarlson.bsky.social · 18/10/2024I'm no artist, so my game's primarily text-based, but I feel really good about the toy OS I added for visual/mechanical variety. Loved watching playtesters forget about the main goal to open and re-size windows for a minute. Also, 480x360 is great because it *feels* authentic and scales well 110
Robert Carlson @robertcarlson.bsky.social · 16/10/2024Describing my game to new people is a challenge. It's first and foremost a story- and character-driven text adventure, but it plays more like a LucasArts-style point-and-click, and it also features an in-game computer with a faux-retro desktop interface. #indiedev #pointandclick 151
