Can someone explain why they can’t message in parallel on several apps. I don’t get my news from X or Meta, so I don’t see any government messaging.

Track record? I set out to read the Picketty tome. I suppose it’s many years ago now. I enjoyed the first chapters. Some history. Then it set off, without evidence, to forecast that we in a cycle and that next labour was to be in the ascendant. Capital was finished. How’s that working out now?

In declining high streets I don’t think rents are the main issue as they are only a small fraction of the overall costs of running a business these days.

At the very least, we should have full disclosure of funding behind any panelist.

I do wish this government would copy your homework.

Very calculated apology. Revealing.

Unless they can move plausible succession candidates into the main jobs, this government will just fade away. Like the Democrats in the US.

I have not followed him closely. Has he ever submitted himself to an election?

There’s little balance these days. People seem to need to jump all in on one side or the other. (And stick with it regardless of unravelments. )

Yes. Trust is in short supply.

Do you not think all this is the inevitable result of systems created across civil service and local government? Rules are being followed. Breaking rules, for whatever motive, is career ending.

An interesting read. Thank you. But the problems building trams sound like the same problems obstructing new infrastructure and housing. Fear of judicial review being significant, as others have explained.

Dealing with BNG on small sites incurs significant consultancy fees, disproportionate to the value of the benefits. And many of the smallest sites are already exempt as householder development anyway.

I think we might need managed population decline. Otherwise it’s just the same as looking for growth to solve our problems. And how’s that working out?

Agreed. If the Triple Lock didn’t exist, would you create it now.

Standard procedure at the moment. If a policy doesn’t work, doubling down should fix it.
