My brain likes to realize that the dream was bad only *after* I wake up thinking, "This would make a great story!" and then type out a few sentences and realize it's just a garbled mess of emotional impressions :-(

I noticed the character in the trailer and cringed. I used to study extreme-right propaganda, and portrayals of lefty stereotypes as insufficiently masculine tends to be really hateful. That being said, where did you see that Xristos Triantafillou IDs as transmasc? I'd love to know more about him

I work hard to remind myself that the accomplishments are not as important as the fact that I kept trying. Like, I'm Sisyphus and I'll never finish pushing that rock up that hill, so I just try to push it as much as I can every day (cf. gifted kids being praised for results, but not for effort)

I actually think my sense of inadequacy is so deeply rooted that being competitive was (is) always a conscious strategy for dealing with it. Being good at something made me think, "Hey--if I succeed at this, they'll have to admit I'm good at something."

1) Apparently the strategy is "If Hollywood discovers you're a terrible person, double down to make vile Islamophobic propaganda with Ben Shapiro that makes you look even worse." Much worse. 2) Anyone else getting "Birth of a Nation" vibes off this? www.youtube.com/watch?v=5b2F...

Tally partied with the superrich on private Greek islands, heartbreaking purity of those tiny white seaports at dawn."

I just realized--Tally Isham was probably the first "Influencer." Yes, I know technically her medium was sim-stim, but what she did for a living was: 1) have amazing, glamorous experiences and 2) make them available as media so that her millions of followers could experience them vicariously.

Kind of a stupid title, but goddamn, Maika Monroe. She’s amazing. I kinda wish she’d branch out into other genres more, but she’s so fucking good at horror. I think she’s transcending “Scream Queen” and is heading for “Scream Holy Roman Empress” m.youtube.com/watch?v=sDiF...

Ideally, this would be a Lorenz/Gini curve, but that would be a whole lot more work. Also, note the lack of granularity--the top 10% of musicians combined make a fair amount of money, but I'll bet the top 1/10th of 1% makes the vast majority of it.

I was thinking about how some professions have relatively equal income distribution and some very much do not. Like, the highest paid fast food worker doesn't make a whole lot more than those at minimum wage. But with plumbers the top 10% make about double the bottom 10%
