I wouldn't believe him either, but he never apologizes. That would seem like admitting to mistakes or weakness. Sycophants make excuses for him while he either repeats what he said or doubles down.

It wasn't long ago that he summed up another issue by saying "small potatoes" in reference to the Iran war.

I suspect he thinks it makes him look strong and patriotic. It's the sort of thing his clueless followers applaud.

That's true of 11 or 12 states, including mine. But the other states don't tax SS. If you have an IRA and want to access some of it, you have to pay federal income taxes on whatever you take out, and states, except for 9 of them also pay income tax on IRA withdrawals.

They also want to be rid of Medicare and Medicaid, but Soc Sec is their ongoing first big hurdle.

I usually use a stylus, so I can't claim it's from fingers. Texting with the accepted abbreviations is a foreign language, and I really don't feel too compelled to learn it.

Not offended, but thanks for checking. It's nice to know that most people here care about not offending someone. I'm not the best, but will keep working on it.

"But none of this begins in earnest until the Republicans lose their majority." They will try to cheat in more than one way. We really need to find and expose their plans and their attempts, and stop them. Polls show that Democrats are leading in some key swing states. But we can't rely on that.

I get the feeling he's not very secure in this testosterone, he-man stance, but senses that some of the people and symbols that seem more peaceful are stronger than he is. I think much of his "masculine" posturing is an act. He's getting rid of things or people that would expose that.

Not sure how anyone would interpret anything I say about him as anything else. He 100% cares only about himself. I've been saying that ever since he pushed his way into politics.

This Supreme Court has become too comfortable with having a conservative majority. There have been a long string of decisions/rulings that have made life more difficult for too many Americans who aren't CEO's or billionaires, or DonOLD. They refuse to follow a standard of ethics. People are angry.

I think one of the things that gets him going in his hate speeches and remarks is that he knows that people don't just dislike him politically. He senses that people see what he really is, and what he isn't. He knows most people dislike him personally, even before they get to the politics part.

The health insurance industry in the US is a lot more complex than it needs to be. It's also more expensive than it should be. We have had, (probably not currently) state of the art medical care available, but not accessible unless one has the money to pay for it. We need universal single payer.

Eye care with an ophthalmologist (MD) is covered. There are still some Medicare Advantage plans which cost less, but cover less and have copays for everything. Eye care is with an optometrist. Health care in the US badly needs a complete overhaul, with a universal single payer system.

Roberta @robertaao.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
This is true. But it's even more expensive when you're retired or unemployed. Most supplemental health insurance plans (after Medicare pays their part) are just about hitting $400/mo just for the premium, if you opt for no $40 copay plans that have traditionally covered everything. Not dental.

Even if it happened, (it won't) it's our money that we pay in taxes. It would not be coming from his pocket. He's not known for paying people, except if you are another country and he's getting something he wants for it. In this case though, he's trying to bribe American voters to vote Republican.

Nice thought to imagine, but with the SCOTUS lifetime terms, they wouldn't be retiring if there is a Democrat just elected to the WH. They would have to be leaving some other way. But for sure Jack Smith would be a great AG. Obama would be great in any position, just don't know if he would want it.

His ineptness and bad judgement has cost Americans a lot of money. Destroying the East Wing. The blunders in awarding the stupid "renovation" of the Reflection Pool and the resulting costs with no resolution. The renovations to the jet "gift." And more, lots more.

Seems to me that lots of women's lives for centuries, have been ruined by rape, usually with no recourse from the law.

Roberta @robertaao.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
I agree he would make a great AG. He's a fact based, no frills, and no lies kind of guy. And he knows the laws an would never be there to serve the personal wishes of one corrupt person, as is happening now.

Smith is leaving out something: DonOLD mass pardoned them so that he would still have his grateful little army to do his bidding again.

Everything he says must be examined and verified because he always lies and exaggerates. He doesn't care about anyone getting bruised or hurt, or even not agreeing. It's all about him and the image he wants people to believe about himself.

They know they can get whatever they need or want. They can fund researchers to develop new treatments for them. But they don't care what happens to other people, and they don't want to contribute a dime that would benefit anyone but themselves and maybe their families.

When the ACA was being organized, the corporate universe convinced uninformed people that a government controlled health plan would be a socialism or communism. A lot of what we have been seeing from this president and administration looks very much like communism.

Social Security COLA for 2027 is estimated to be 3.5-3.6$% Medicare monthly cost is expected to be $209.50 for Part B. Usually the cost of Medicare which is taken from a person's Social Security, comes close to what the Soc Sec increase is. For most people that means a very small income increase.

Protesters marched in DC. Some carried signs saying No Govt Healthcare. Below that "Hands off my Medicare." The insurance industry convinced a lot of uninformed people that a new government healthcare plan would be very bad. But it passed, and Republicans have been trying to remove it.

Roberta @robertaao.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
Much as I love Obama, I do remember his response to someone's question about whether his plan would be "free", a universal healthcare plan. He said that no, he couldn't do that. I guess he felt it was beyond what he could get any agreement or cooperation on.

I remember that the Clinton healthcare plan was her plan. Republicans were heavily against it, and against her ever since. (How dare a First Lady be smart and well-educated!)

Not only do we not have universal health care, this administration is incrementally taking away and/or trying to chip away at programs that were already established, which many depend on. The healthcare industry needs a giant overhaul. Private insurance has become unaffordable for too many.

I'd like both impeachment and seeing him convicted of treason. We've all put up with him for a long time, while he's gotten crazier, and his incompetence and greed more obvious, ignoring laws. Make him finally face real consequences.
010
Roberta @robertaao.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
He's even worse in this second term. And the first was bad. First we have to get him out. But then we will have to fix the damage he's done to the country, to our allies, to other parts of the world. Much of it will take years, if not generations.

This is what I've read as well. Some of the theft may be errors, but for whatever reason stores don't want to lose money. Human cashiers have presumably received at least some store training, while customers haven't and don't always know the ins and outs of the process.

I think they would say it's justified. No amount of reasoning or logic will change them, until the time when it happens to them or someone they love.
