Taymouth Castle
Blue sky with grey clouds. Miscellaneous commercial forestry, with bracken and a sweeping view of the Tay valley with the rather grand grey, Taymouth Castle in the centre

Currently on a train to the deepest West Country and the ARNO newsletter just landed with the most impressive of cocktail recipes: “Hands to Harbour Stations”… more like totally smashed and an early night
ARNO Cocktail of the Fortnight. As it is nearly the weekend and we're about to come alongside, our inaugural cocktail is Hands to Harbour Stations – a crisp, refreshing serve that's simple to make and perfect for raising a glass to fair winds, good company and the weeks ahead.
Ingredients: 1.5 measures gin, iced; 1 measure vodka, iced, 0.5 measure dry vermouth or Lillet; ice; lemon peel. Shake the liquid ingredients over ice until frosted. Strain into a frosted martini glass. Dress with lemon peel and serve immediately.

"The Association of Royal Navy Officers
Dear Members,

The Association of Royal Navy Officers regularly reviews how it communicates with members and the wider public, to ensure our channels remain effective, appropriate, and aligned with our values.

Following careful consideration, and in light of recent media reporting surrounding the X (formerly Twitter) platform together with a decline in engagement, the Association has decided that it will no longer maintain an official presence on X.

This decision has not been taken lightly. However, we believe our time and resources are better focused on platforms that provide a constructive environment for engagement and allow us to communicate more effectively with our members and supporters.

The Association will continue to maintain an active presence on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram.

We thank members for their understanding and continued support, and we encourage you to follow and engage with us through our remaining social media channels."

Other than getting mown down by the odd cycle/scooter, never really felt unsafe in London
Survey from today's YouGov poll. *Sigh*
Very safe (me) 6%
Fairly safe 35%
Fairly unsafe 26%
Very unsafe 25%
No idea why people feel so unsafe in London (polling suggests over 50% feel that way). Wonder how many of the said people actually visit London and wander the street?

For all the incredible advances that GDS has made in improving UK Gov digital services, why the appalling UX regarding "urgent messages" from HMRC which subsequently tell you to come back in 4 days when the actual information is available?
Your new Self Assessment statement has been prepared. You'll be able to view it online within 4 working days.

Your statement will tell you if you owe any payments to HM Revenue and Customs, or if you're due a refund.

At least in the Microsoft Edge browser it's not scraping *every* page you access by default nor offering inaccurate AI-generated content. More than can be said for Google's services #aiwitheverything
"Allow Copilot to use page content

Copilot may give better answers based on the current page."

And when the link is clicked, this is what Microsoft have to say about this feature:

======================

When you submit a prompt to Copilot in Edge, we may use multiple sources of information to help answer in a way that is relevant and helpful to you. These may include the query, recent conversation history, and page context.

Your admins have flexibility in controlling how their organization leverages Copilot in Edge.

Copilot for commercial use and enterprise data protection
In most cases, you should be automatically signed into Microsoft Copilot in the sidebar with your Entra ID account after signing into Edge with your work profile. For more information about Entra IDs and signing into a work profile, see What's the difference between a Microsoft account and a work or school account?

If you are not automatically signed in, please go to bing.com/chat and sign into Copilot with your Entra ID credentials there.

When you sign into Copilot with an Entra account, you receive enterprise data protection (EDP). This version of Copilot provides heightened security protections for sensitive organizational data.

Just a note to anyone pushing their rubbish in my direction today
Email rule with any content relating to 'Black Friday' being trashed without reading.
Stop making shite that nobody wants, and stop encouraging people to buy things they don't need. Could we possibly make some vague attempt at trying to save the planet.
