robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 11/10/2026No amount of ‘talking up the product’ from sky can save this situation with the premier league now. So obvious from one gameweek that the season is tainted. Gonna be completely farcical watching this for the next 6 months. 030 0
robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 11/10/2026It’s a bit of both. It’ll even out over the course of the next few months. 010 0
robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 11/10/2026Small sample size, but if you remove the opening day of the season, spurs are 5th on the xPoints table, having underscored our xG by nearly 5. It’d be seriously unlucky if the goals didnt start to fly in and we move up the table during October. 120 0
robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 10/10/2026One negative from today is another poor performance from Van Hecke. He doesn’t get tight enough for the goal, and across the 6 games I’ve seen he simply doesn’t have the instincts of a great defender. That part is impossible to coach. It’d be a massive concern. 100 0
robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 10/10/2026I definitely know which part of the incident was more likely to result in an injury. Attwell always been useless. 100 0
robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 10/10/2026We’re still a pretty decent team. Once we’ve got a fully working no.10 then I think we’ll be flying. On another note - genuinely no idea how shaw wasn’t sent off. A 2 handed push, in retaliation for a tackle, knocking another player to the floor is obviously violent conduct. 140 0

robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Don’t be ridiculous. Thats not how the club has worked for 20 years. I suspect he pushed for Tonali but Robertson, Senesi, Van Hecke, Savio, were all long term club targets who we’ve moved for in previous windows. 000 0
robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 10/10/2026The players definitely aren’t fit. Sounds like there’s some division internally on where the fault lies for that. He doesn’t buy the players. 100 0
robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 10/10/2026If you listen to him in the press conferences he’s suggesting the medical team have been dictating how many minutes the players are allowed. He’s been positive about it until now, but I suspect a meltdown soon unless the results turn. 000 0

robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 02/10/2026It’ll split a lot of the owners. If the clubs thought they’d make a super league stick this team then you can bet your bottom dollar they’ll push ahead (spurs will be front of the queue). You can only hope they’re now wary enough of city’s owners + the LIV golf debacle to think twice. 020 0
robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 02/10/2026I wonder if the PL are proactive and try to resurrect the idea of PL1 and PL2 to shut the super league off. Fewer teams, but a bigger pot of money overall for the clubs involved. In the end the PL clubs will go with whoever gives them more cash. At the moment that’s Man City and a super league. 100 0
robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 01/10/2026The PL seem to have finally realised they can’t control a club far richer than the league can ever be, and want them out. I doubt 15 rival owners will be inclined to think the same. They’ll be more focused on the financial opportunity for themselves. 100 0
robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 01/10/2026I suspect most of their rival PL clubs would rather take them to the cleaners for their cash in court than see city relegated, so I wouldn’t be surprised if little happens from a sporting PoV, and city end up settling with individual clubs. 100 0
robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 01/10/2026The elephant in the room is also the last 8 years of accounting, and the obvious threat of a criminal investigation. I’m pretty sure UEFA will open another case into the latest accounts if they can, and surely HMRC and the SFO are about to make formal announcements that they’re investigating. 110 0
robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 01/10/2026After the appeal they can go to an arbitration panel, and if that fails they can go to the high court. Man city will take this all the way. 000 0
robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 01/10/2026I think this whole thing has got another 2 years to run, and will either end up in the high court, or be stopped via a political intervention. I don’t think city’s owners understand the word ‘no’, so it’ll become a horrible mess, that might lead to more breakaway talks. 300 0
robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 01/10/2026I think the verdict was so stern the only options city have is to cast doubt, hope for leniency from the appeal board. Then if all else fails, tie the process up in legal red tap and burn the whole thing down. I think they’ll do the latter and it’ll have seismic consequences 000 0
robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 01/10/2026They’re not supposed to be offering new evidence in the appeal as I understand it, so they’re just using the media to put their side of the story out to cast doubt on the original verdict. They’ve also got their sponsors to line up the law suits to scare the premier league out of a big punishment. 100 0
robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 01/10/2026It’d be a fair argument if the whole case wasn’t base on the fact someone hacked their emails that detailed how the extra payments were made and why they were required. I suspect city are just doubling down on the argument that since the emails were illegally obtained the evidence is inadmissible. 200 0
robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 01/10/2026So their argument is that their sponsors can’t afford the (non inflated) sponsorship deals and have to be propped up by the government, who have absolutely nothing to do with city, and the royal family and city owners knew nothing of these arrangements. Good luck with that appeal lads. 110 0

robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 29/09/2026As things stand it’s really hard to see anything other than a full expulsion can be the recommendation from the sanctions commission. Then it’ll go to the PL clubs to vote for, which I just can’t see happening. They’d rather the sweet cash from city than any meaningful sporting punishment. 121 0
robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 29/09/2026I’d love to see more of the details that helped the panel make their decision. Difficult to judge how City will wrangle their way out otherwise. 120 0
robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 29/09/2026I’m not sure I’ve seen it mentioned, but what Man City have been found guilty of surely constitutes false accounting, which is a criminal offence. I’d be surprised if a criminal investigation isn’t opened at some point soon, which would presumably lead to directors being banned at the least. 130 0
robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 26/09/2026But you can bet your bottom dollar they’ve already lined up their legal compensation cases. Spurs, for example, missed the CL by 1 place 4 times in the 09-18 period. That compensation will run to £100m alone. City’s payout will be a drop in the ocean for them and clubs will be happy to accept. 120 0
robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 26/09/2026The most depressing thing about the case is that I suspect it’ll be city’s premier league rivals who come to their rescue and block any sporting sanctions. Gotta keep that cash cow rolling, and city are much more useful if they’re buying your players or compensating you in financial fines. 120 0

robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 21/09/2026This is broadly my view as well. I was looking at the xG numbers at the weekend, and frankly they match what I’m seeing with my eyes. Fitness and confidence are the problems currently. Worse case scenario is that confidence doesn’t return quickly enough and a spiral starts, but it feels unlikely. 010 0
robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 20/09/2026The biggest shame is that Xavi Simons would be thriving as the no.10 in this setup right now. It’s perfectly made for him. Same could be said for Deki on the right. 120 0
robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 20/09/2026I think we can safely say that spurs will not be doing a tour to Asia or Oz again next year. Chatting to the guy next to me at spurs yesterday about Bentancur’s amazing form. When you do an injury of that nature it takes 2 years to get back to the level required. Gonna be a long road for many. 010 0
robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 20/09/2026My only concern is that the players are clearly not at the fitness level required for the PL. Something obviously went badly wrong in preseason. I’m sure players, manager, medical team, will be briefing their own stories to the press to protect themselves. Hopefully a 3 week break sorts it out. 210 0
robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 20/09/2026This time last season we’d already had the Bournemouth and Wolves at home games, which rank as some of our most incompetent performances I’ve ever seen. Despite the results there’s just not the same alarm in our performances. The manager has us better structured than any of the last 3 ever did. 131 0
robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Yeah it’s totally this. The main thing was Maddison getting injured on the opening day. Kudus was worse than Fernandes at 10 which killed us yesterday, but I’m genuinely confident the with 3 weeks till Utd we could have a well balanced starting 4 that looks like - kudus, madders, Savio, Marmoush. 010 0
robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Some of the stuff I saw on here last night was bonkers. Weird conspiracy theory stuff about everyone in charge of the club. robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 19/09/2026Thought we were excellent again first half. Theres a decent structure at 0-0. robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 19/09/2026It was just a basic mistake from the club thinking it’d accelerate Richys move that he’d clearly signalled he wanted and then procrastinated on cos he wasn’t offered the money he expected. robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 19/09/2026I’m not sure if you were at the game, but up close it was another alarming performance. Early days, but you have to hope it’s an injury problem. 000 0
robburton.bsky.social @robburton.bsky.social · 19/09/2026Have to say I thought Tonali was really poor. He just doesn’t look fit. Bentancur is doing the work of 2 players in there. Maybe Fernandes was injured but replacing him for kudus rather than Tonali completely killed us 2nd half. Lost all control and tempo. 110 0
