Visited the Irish Museum of Modern Art and walked the Royal Hospital Kilmainham Gardens today.

Statue found in the center of the Royal Hospital Kilmainham grounds. No idea who she is supposed to be. There was no plaque.

I went on a photo walk on Friday. The folks were super nice and friendly, but most of my images were muddled and crowded. This was the only one I liked.

A very dramatic Irish Soda Bread I baked this morning.

A photo of Irish soda bread taken with a vintage Japanese lens I just picked up. The lens has kind of a gritty, contrast-heavy look, so the bread looks more like a rock face than something you’d want to eat. It was really good, though!

Playing around with another vintage lens I picked up. This one is the Industar-50-2 50mm that I used to take more photos from our yard.

A blue columbine is in focus. Everything else is lost in an ocean of blurry bokeh.

More yellow yarrow. This lens is sharper than the telephoto I was using yesterday.

I picked up a super cheap, used telephoto lens and I’ve been playing with it a little. Moving from a 23mm lens to 135mm is an adjustment, but it’s been a lot of fun.

I was out playing with some extreme ISO/WB settings and a plastic Holga lens tonight. Kind of a fun night of experimenting.

Caught a guy at the skate park who was trying to get some pictures of his own.

A restaurant sits, open, but mostly empty. We are looking in from outside. This lens really flares under bright light in the dark.

An empty soccer field waits empty under streetlights.

The same skater as before, caught at such a low speed he becomes a ghost, only partially solid. I doubt he’ll see this, but if he does, thanks for letting me snap some photos! I appreciate the “okay.”

I treat my Freewrite Traveler like an old-fashioned steamer trunk, putting a sticker on it when I take it to new destinations. Because I brought it back to Iceland, it got a new sticker this month.

A new, round Iceland sticker has been placed partially over a New York City sticker, next to another one that reads Chicago on the black lid of a Traveler. The previous Iceland sticker, which has a graphic depicting the Northern Lights, is out of view to the left.

I’ve said it before, but some of my favorite photos are mistakes.

A pancake lens that doesn’t handle low light very well. My shaking hands don’t seem to help the image. This is the observation car on the Zephyr headed east.

More low light photography. Two people, dragging luggage outside of a window, turn into ghosts.

A big part of when we went to Iceland was to see the northern lights and we struck out, but it was such a beautiful country. I’m hoping we’ll get back. This was my photo of the same sculpture.

I don’t normally take photos of flowers, but we’ve had a lot of rain recently and our neighborhood is just exploding with color.

I’m not sure what flower this is. Light purple blooms are visible in a clump at the top of a stalk. Another clump of buds is visible behind, waiting for its moment.

Red yarrow fills the image. The color is almost fluorescent it is so bright.

Just a few random pictures I haven’t shared before.

A black and white image of the front of Denver’s Union Station. It is a high angle shot, so instead of people, the bottom of the image shows patio umbrellas.

From inside of a burger restaurant looking out at the courtyard in front of Union Station. It is mostly empty except for a couple of distant pedestrians. Again, this is black and white.

Light bulbs, unlit, hanging in front of trees and a cloudy sky. This was taken at a brewery on St. Patrick’s Day, so it wasn’t nearly as serene and lonely as the image appears.

I took a walk last night, just as the sun was going down, so I could play with a new lens. The reviews mentioned some unusual flaring. Boy, they were right!

The sun has set and the sky is giving up its light, the clouds deep grays and blues. To the left and ahead industrial buildings are lit with a few, sparse yellow lights.

Ahead a pedestrian bridge stretches over a dried up riverbed. It is dark now and the lights beyond the bridge are surrounded by halos of light that make it look like they are embedded in big, glass domes. This is a trick of the lens.

Another nighttime shot with big, round lights burning in the background over industrial buildings. In the foreground there is a swooping, red train sculpture to highlight the history of trains that no longer visit this space.

We visited a local tortilla maker this morning and picked up some fresh tortillas and some chips on our bikes. I wasn’t sure what to make with them, so I just made Turkish Eggs again.

My son got this cool little thermal printer that prints photos onto sticker paper. Here is the original shot and the sticker they made for me.

I tried a new recipe this morning… Turkish eggs. It was pretty good even though I got excited and forgot the dill!

Garlic and salt Greek yogurt base, topped with a pouched egg, and a butter and paprika sauce. Not visible in the picture is some toast I made from some homemade bread.
