Profound question for 12:20 AM: Why, when I ask Midjourney to create an image of Bert from Sesame Street as a visual pun for deep learning, do I get a set of characters that range from "Ernie-ish" to "WTF", but no Bert?
Not Bert. Not Bert. Not Bert. Not Bert. Not Bert. Not Bert. Not Bert. Not Bert. Not Bert. Not Bert. Not Bert. Not Bert. Not Bert. Not Bert. Not Bert. Also Not Bert.

And of course Joe Felsenstein's 1968 PhD thesis (felsenst.github.io/papers/thesis/), which basically anticipated all of phylogenetics:

I asked generative AI to generate an UpSet plot from the data in the infamous Vennana figure from the banana genome paper (D'Hont et al., 2012, Nature). I think the results speak for themselves:
An appealing scientific figure.

Thanks for the clarification! Clearly I need to re-read my bioinformatics history. I don't know if Dayhoff is accessing her telephone protein database in this photo (don't know the source, unfortunately), but I like to think so.

Trying to generate an image that shows the impact of LGT in the Tree of Life. This is (unsurprisingly) not what I asked for, but the characteristic misspellings (Euckaryea, Archareyetes, etc) actually make a solid point here.

I know generative AI images are so 2023, but I'd *really* like to be able to generate a proper B-DNA molecule with major and minor grooves. This study in coffee beans is the closest I've managed to get, but has anyone else had more luck?
