"The assault on democracy, carried out by the two ruling parties, set the stage for Trump. They emasculated our democratic institutions, stripped us of our most basic rights and cemented into place the machinery of authoritarian control, including the imperial presidency. All Trump had to do was flick the switch."

Statement from Senator Jacky Rosen:

The abuses of power we are seeing from ICE in Minneapolis and across the country are un-American and cannot be normalized. No one wants criminals in our country, but that’s not who this administration is going after. They’re targeting law-abiding immigrants who just want to support their families and live the American Dream. They’re going after immigrants who have asylum or other forms of legal protections to be in our country. They’re going after U.S. citizens who disagree with their tactics — and in less than a month, two of our fellow Americans in Minneapolis have been killed as a result.

Enough is enough. We need to rein in ICE’s out of control conduct.

As a member of the U.S. Senate, I have the responsibility to hold the Trump Administration accountable when I see abuses of power — like we are seeing from ICE right now. That is why I'll be voting against any government funding package that contains the bill that funds this agency, until we have guardrails in place to curtail these abuses of power and ensure more accountability and transparency.

My personal guiding principle has always been “agree where you can and fight where you must.” And I believe this is a time when we must fight back.

Okay so I'm a plagiarizing jerk here; but he did it to us first! "Here is a suggestion: [...] trade-mark and reserve for our own use the good and honorable word 'libertarian.'" — Dean Russell, "Who Is A Libertarian", 1955 (previous is basically his from 1951, with libertarian swapped in for left)

roarde @roarde.bsky.social · 29/08/2025
Some peculiarly propertarian liberals continue to destroy a useful and continuously used word, which removes it from our language commons. I have some thoughts on that:
Most of the original Libertarians protested. So they too were soon repudiated in the general terror that was called liberty. But since the name Libertarian had become identified with the struggle of the individual against the tyranny of government, the new tyrants continued to use that good name for their own purposes. This was a complete perversion of its former meaning. Thus was born what should properly be called Bizarro Libertarianism.

The leaders of this Bizarro Libertarianism were greatly aided in their program of deceiving the people by using this effective device of changing the meaning of words. The term “tyranny” had been used to describe the powers of the old government. And the term “liberty” had been used to describe the ideas of the original Libertarians. Well and good. But when the Bizarro Libertarians in turn became tyrannical, they continued to call it liberty. In the name of liberty, mob violence was encouraged, habeas corpus decimated, and a tangerine tyrant reinvigorated.

It was Dean Russell who published the Goebbels-style template for the fraud to "trade-mark and reserve for [their] own use the good and honorable word 'libertarian.'" in 1955. This was wrong, especially if you take his own view of such. From his earlier essay, "The First Leftist". Like a glove.
Most of the original Leftists protested. So they too were soon repudiated in the general terror that was called liberty. But since the name Leftist had become identified with the struggle of the individual against the tyranny of government, the new tyrants continued to use that good name for their own purposes. This was a complete perversion of its former meaning. Thus was born what should properly be called the new and second Left.

The leaders of this new Left were greatly aided in their program of deceiving the people by using this effective device of changing the meaning of words. The term “tyranny” had been used to describe the powers of the old government. And the term “liberty” had been used to describe the ideas of the original Leftists. Well and good. But when the second Leftists in turn became tyrannical, they continued to call it liberty. In the name of liberty, mob violence was encouraged, habeas corpus was abolished, and the guillotine was set up.

You are a soul who finds beauty and strength in the tender side of BDSM. For you, this world isn’t about sharp edges or overwhelming force—it’s a sanctuary of gentle touches, whispered reassurances, and quiet intimacy. Whether you’re offering care or basking in it, your heart beats for moments where vulnerability is met with kindness, and power is wielded with calm, yet assertive words. You see BDSM as a language of connection, where every caress and gesture, every soft restraint, and every gentle request speaks volumes about trust and affection.

I bet all you stupid commies wish you'd supported Kamala now, huh? You could have had a president who merely wants to explode and incinerate Palestinians instead of ethnically cleansing them! But NO, you chose to stay home or vote for Jill Stein, so now you get mass expulsion instead of the sweet gentle embrace of nonstop military hellfire.

I bet you feel so dumb now. You could have had kinder, more polite mass atrocities. You could be sitting here feeling smug and correct like me, instead of sitting there feeling like a fool for insisting upon your ponies and unicorns pie-in-the-sky unrealistic fantasy of not supporting an active genocide. Now you have to sit there and watch them ethnically cleanse Gaza and cry while I watch and masturbate.

Now you have to live with your decision you insolent, uppity peons. Soon you'll be BEGGING for a chance to support an administration that spent 15 months turning Gaza into gravel, but it's too late. Next election we'll make you vote for a former IDF member who wants to nuke Iran, just to make sure you've learned your lesson. And then we'll STILL spit on you.

Shame on you. Shame on you for failing to get on board the coconut train when you had a chance. You could have had a holocaust overseen by a competent and articulate woman of color. Now you get ethnic cleansing from an orange buffoon who tweets mean words. I hope you all get deported to the West Bank, and then I hope the West Bank gets obliterated — by a Democrat.

The problem being that libertarianism, meaning real libertarianism, has individualism of the kind she chose to call individuality as a core tenet. When other true libertarians consistently claim individualism, that's what they mean. She was right to try a different word, but it didn't take.

Photo of a printed paragraph:

What, then, is this model? To put it somewhat wonkily, when a state, such as the United States, has stagnating or declining real wages (wages in inflation-adjusted dollars), a growing gap between rich and poor, overproduction of young graduates with advanced degrees, declining public trust, and exploding public debt, these seemingly disparate social indicators are actually related to each other dynamically. Historically, such developments have served as leading indicators of looming political instability. In the United States, all of these factors started to take an ominous turn in the 1970s. The data pointed to the years around 2020 when the confluence of these trends was expected to trigger a spike in political instability. And here we are.

When it comes to radio comms, there are a lot of complicated things to consider. However, radio comms can be a viable method to go off-grid while securely and privately remaining in contact with associates. *Radio is a warlord's best friend for a reason, after all.* Here's a fairly uncomplicated guide to get you started with radio comms, and help you avoid dangerous pitfalls.

A good introduction point into radio comms is frequency selection. Radio is not a "one size fits all" thing, there are a multitude of ranges and options available and it's up to you to decide which ones suit your needs.

- UHF: line of sight range, used for obstacle areas. (indoors, forests, etc.)

- VHF: range as far as the horizon, used for open areas.

- HF: licensed, uncommon. At peak conditions, intercontinental range is possible.

Another thing to consider is radio type. There are two types: analog and digital. - Analog: unencryptable, easy to use, very legal. Repeaters are easy to obtain. - Digital: licensed, encryption possible. Repeaters are difficult to obtain.

Encryption is an important factor to consider. In most cases, encrypting radio comms is terrorism-level illegal. However, it is nonetheless very possible to do.

- Trunked: used by police forces. technically not encryption. difficult to obtain.

- 128bit: Chinese radios exclusively. typically actually 40bit. easy to decrypt IRT.

- AES-256: the undisputed standard of modern encryption. impossible to decrypt.

The length of your transmissions can compromise your location. You *could* limit them to quick bursts of data using ar AES-256 encrypted HF SDR, cutting the length of your transmissions down to fractions of a second. *That would be very very illegal*

Post by Jeremiah Harding - WA:

I think a proper and rigorous understanding of libertarianism that would update it to the modern is a ceasing of the rejection of the left.

It started out as a political philosophy on the left, and left libertarians are in a wide variety of ways often more competent at opposing threats to liberty.

Too often rightoids will pretend that if money is exchanged, it's all that's required. No. Calling out corporate power, banks, hedge funds, property heritage, and more, is all needed, and also calling out the power structures themselves and asking where oppression exists on a social level.

Not pretending one can have social liberty without economic or catallactic liberty and vice versa would be a start. But then you get called "woke" and people screech. I just embrace the label woke. Libertarians the world over should also.

The idea that one can update libertarian theory while keeping it mired in neoliberal conservative values of left-rejection is a performative contradiction.

We tried allying with the authright and it’s already going to shit. The paleo strategy failed and he's not even inaugurated. Time to work with the libleft instead. Broad-based, inclusive coalitions toward the end of improved relations with the working class, and a divorce from the need to be stodgy business apologists would be a necessary step for something authentically different.

Otherwise, it's just more of the same, and with that, there's no reason to go with a libertarian and not the substantially better connected and more monied Republican.

Solicit men’s view in the mass, and they will return stupid, fickle and violent answers; solicit their views as members of definite groups with real solidarity and a distinctive character, and their answers will be responsible and wise. Expose them to the political ‘language’ of mass democracy, which represents ‘the people’ as unitary and undivided and minorities as traitors, and they will give birth to tyranny; expose them to the political language of federalism, in which the people figures as a diversified aggregate of real associations; and they will resist tyranny to the end.
