There are real reforms needed to prevent things like how Trump has staffed the power agencies with loyalists, and how his abuse of power always goes unchecked until the a Supreme Court decision many many months later. We need to accept how bad this is so we can do a good job of fixing it.

There is no sharp line between a highly partisan dysfunctional democracy and authoritarianism. Certainly our “democracy” where congress had abdicated oversight, the DOJ and FBI are run by loyalists, and the president is using an anonymous police force to intimidate us seems textbook authoritarian.
