7. Favorite night theme: Beneath the Mask -rain- (Shoji Meguro, feat. Lyn Inaizumi) This might be the muscle memory affiliation with it, but really is a rainy night song—slow and soothing, like it ought to be. youtu.be/U2Qd9TRY1Ro

Myū!Brandt absolutely bunts Ikarus like crazy. Whenever Ikarus has Important Noble Business™️ to take care of with other nobles, you know Hildebrandt’s cat-ass is rubbing himself all over Ikarus to make his point. So possessive.

TL;DR the theme only makes sense if you follow through, meet the game on its level, and that’s what makes it so cool.

030

Holland @roaldseth.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

Weyzn’s theme perfectly encapsulates that classic feeling of “sneaking about” or embodying “creeping suspicion,” reinforcing that something is lurking in Weyzn so well. It’s also great foreshadowing of whatever your own curiosity finds: political and economical, present and future.

130

Holland @roaldseth.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

Ngl, Weyzn’s theme had to grow on me because I personally just prefer intensity over suspense in a song, BUT the thing is, the later is why it works so well for Weyzn’s specific time of immediately right before the fall of the Age of Magic.

6. Favorite town/city theme: The Magic Capital and the Melody of Wisdom (Yuto Moritani) Recency bias choice, but I’ve been wanting to talk about this one for a minute, which I will do in a QRT. youtu.be/ow4xyAR9Gdg

Yeah. This year feels so deflated. For me, all of the projects that were never even started is entirely due to the thought process of “I can save myself 100% of the time, energy, and misery if I just don’t start it to begin with” for every single one.

110

Holland @roaldseth.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

Tbh, I probably just need to come to terms with the fact that I DON’T want to do this month’s PPA Monthly Job prompt even though I waited a whole year to do it. It’s just a rule imposed on myself that I don’t actually have to follow/complete.

141

Holland @roaldseth.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

This is something that I already kinda do, actually. Though, what I probably need to do is expand my trail circulation so I don’t get “bored.” Though, that might be for next year since winter is coming and who knows how much of it I will be doing after October.

Holland @roaldseth.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

Yeah, I have heard so much secondhand bullshit... and as someone that never was an OCs kinda guy, IDK if I want to be in that kind of environment either.

4. Favorite main theme/motif: Main Theme (Unicorn Overlord, Mitsuhiro Kaneda) Game that had both main and a title so it made sense to use one for this distinction. Octopath was too easy even tho it is unbeatable, but UO also does a great job of giving a certain je ne sais quoi youtu.be/iizmF1AUktg

It certainly is appropriate for the context tbh. In different circumstances the tutorial would've been a final stage of a different game, so the gravitas worthy of a final boss is nicely reflected in the track despite it also being not that strange to open like that to get the narrative going.

3. Favorite regular battle theme: Battle -Raidou- (Shoji Meguro) The only thing that could up a Nishiki normal battle track is a Meguro one. Also, shout out to Battle For Survival (DDSAT2). Absolutely iconic. For ease, linking the Remastered OST, but it's OG/King Abaddon. youtu.be/u-HInU6S1-E

2. Favorite first level theme: Farde Mal Diavolo - Destroy Evil, Then Come - (Mitsuhiro Kaneda) Unicorn Overlord coming in with the best track of the game in the tutorial fight, and that is not hyperbole. This was polled to be the fan favorite track, no surprise. youtu.be/NfXD4f6MmdA

Benedict’s ending goes crazy. There is no high like that of being a Benedict head and seeing everyone have their worst ending, arguably even Benedict himself, despite getting what he wants.

1. Favorite title theme: Song of Triangle Strategy (Akira Senju) I'm not immune to an equivalent of an 80s/90s anime opening, but whatever is going on between 4:20-4:35 always slaps and an amazing way to wrap into the last round of the chorus. Triangle Strategy kimi no. youtu.be/ZF1yb-SOi0A?...

How did I finally get into a villain/antagonist that checks the boxes for a fan fav (insufferable blonde white guy with a past that would make people say “he’s misunderstood uwu”), BUT because it’s from a game no one is playing+engaging with transformatively, it’s just me instead of a whole fandom?🙃

Game design meme for me and maybe three other people on this site.

Guy looking at random encounters: "Wow! RPGs are grindy!"
Text overhead: "Random encounters help ensure that the the play experiences combat at regular intervals instead of avoiding fights and ending up underpowered, increasing the risk of quitting entirely."
