We ended up running most of the ductwork in the attic and closets. Fortunately no asbestos or lath and plaster to deal with here. In the lower level of our two floor house we have some exposed ductwork in a hallway because there was no way to run it perpendicular to the ceiling joists
An empty atticThe same attic now filled with a bunch of ductwork

Up until a few years ago I rode this excellent bit of rail trail every day or two. I’m convinced that other than the very start/end, this elevation curve shape is ideal for a regular ride with a break in the middle (though if there’s no break then I think a bell-ish curve is better)
Elevation over distance for a round-trip bike tide. The ride is about 25 miles long and elevation varies from about 50 feet to about 250 feet. The curve goes steadily up to 250 feet over about six miles, then descends to 140 feet over five miles. Then the same pattern repeats in reverse.
