A fatal assumption was made when Biden defeated Trump and people thought everything would return to normal. There should have been arrests, convictions, and legal reforms. Our government’s ineptitude was most prominent during this time and history will reveal that that is when democracy crashed.

Since Trump so brazenly breaks the law I have no confidence that a blue wave will result in the Dems bringing him down. It didn’t happen post 2018 midterms and it didn’t even happen during the Biden presidency. Merrick Garland failed an entire country and generations to come. The die is cast.

Most owners are business people who are looking to maximize profit vs. being truly passionate about championships. Ours is the former. Get ready for another dose of being mired in mediocrity for years and perhaps sinking back into occasional ineptitude. The NFL rewards owners who are ok with that.

We’re definitely trending back toward SOL. This team has not rebounded from losing its two really good coordinators. Most NFL careers are short, so our stars won’t be stars too much longer. We’re just another mediocre team right now and I don’t think ownership is that interested in improving.

It’s now clear our defense stinks despite a solid d-line. Sheppard’s inexperience and Holmes’s inability to respond quickly enough when personnel is shaky spells doom for this team. We might luck out and make the playoffs but so what. This team is gradually slipping back to its losing ways.

I was hopeful four weeks ago but now see a mediocre season at best. I’ve seen enough of Sheppard to conclude he’s in over his head. I now question whether Campbell can succeed without top-notch coordinators like he had in Glenn and Johnson. And Brad Holmes’ conservatism does not bode well either.

I feel your frustration. We’ve seen what Sheppard is capable of and unfortunately he’s not the guy. Campbell took a chance on an inexperienced DC and it’s backfired. Since mid-season coaching changes rarely work out well we’re stuck for this season. The playoffs are looking like a dream right now.

This is University of Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood. In the new college football era of NIL, he is being paid $3 million per year for having a brilliant high school career. I don’t blame him one bit, just offering this observation as the new reality in college sports.

Meanwhile Trump’s blatantly illegal self-promoting ad continues to run on TV. Every network showing it is complicit in the attempted overthrow of our government and must be held to account if and when said government becomes functional once more.

All owners say they want to win, but few really mean it. Chris Ilitch is certainly not interested in winning and I even doubt Sheila Hemp is. These are business people who are able to maximize profit by doing just enough to maintain fan interest. To them, spending the extra money to win is wasteful

Yet all we hear in Mike Rogers’ TV/radio ads here in Michigan is that Abdul is a radical socialist who wants to release murderers and rapists from prison and allow men to compete in women’s sports. Rogers won’t even debate him on the real issues. This is Republican politics. Incite fear and hate.

Yep, that too, and most likely that’s the case.

Agreed! This was the main reason we were never really in the Bills game. This, along with the defense, needs to get better.

Could Campbell and Holmes be trying to showcase TeSlaa to use as trade bait for a deal for Joey Porter or some other high caliber defensive backfield player?

rmtf.bsky.social @rmtf.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
IMO the defense has shown some improvement but 3 big “ifs” remain: If Branch can return at something near his former level, and if they can get Joey Porter or someone of that caliber, and if the rest of the current defense can stay relatively injury-free, I think by playoff time they can compete.

Are you saying this distinction means many republicans will turn on Trump during the next two elections? I hope that’s the case yet I’ll only believe it when I see it.

Ken Burns’ “Baseball” documentary vilified Ty Cobb as a villainous racist despite a body of evidence to the contrary while portraying Bob Feller as a heroic country boy. Yet Feller, interviewed for the film, laughed this catch off as “hardly the best” he’d ever seen which struck me as quite odd.

I thought the defense showed some improvement. Sheppard stayed away from the blitz until he needed it in the 4th qtr & there weren’t as many receivers roaming free as in the Bills game. They still have a long way to come. Fewer penalties & good offensive work on 1st & 2nd down. It’s progress!

As far as I know, just two people died on the Tiger stadium field. One was an acrobat who fell during a Firemen’s Field Day and the other was Chuck Hughes, a Lions wide receiver. I was there when both occurred. Weirdest circumstance of my life.

I say this is likely the case, and I feel bad for the young man and the team. Though Campbell and Holmes must publicly speak as positive as possible about his return, they better be planning for the alternative and get serious about moving on to find an adequate replacement.

Just more evidence of why voting against Republicans in every single race, including for local offices, is necessary. Any candidate running as a Republican, by default, condones and supports this kind of behavior and therefore doesn’t deserve the opportunity to hold public office. Period.

Perhaps we can look at the Trump era as a public service exercise in determining the extent to which Americans believe abject deceit. I’m curious as to whether gullibility has ever been measured throughout history. If it has, where are we today vs., say, 100 years ago? How is the trend line moving?

For those unfamiliar with the symptoms of malignant narcissism, Trump is literally incapable of acting in any way other than for his own self interest.

The shame Trump and his administration heaps on the United States on a daily basis is astounding. Assuming he and all his spineless cohorts are flushed someday, it will take decades to repair the damages.

When does Brad Holmes step up to the reality that it’s likely that Kerby Joseph never recovers from his injury and Brian Branch might never be the same? I feel like Holmes, and Campbell for that matter, are in a deep state of denial about those two players.
000
rmtf.bsky.social @rmtf.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
And this is why Sheppard’s blitz-happy approach is killing us. Let this front four create pressures and sacks and figure out how the other seven players can take care of the rest. Then, it’s Brad Holmes on the hook for getting some DB’s who can actually play!

Call me naive but I trust that reasonable people can deduce that Trump’s ban of media outlets is only because they will not be bullied. Furthermore, Trump’s ban actually serves as a stamp of credibility for said media outlet.

This is why voting is pretty easy. With a few exceptions, like John Fetterman, one just votes for Democrats in every race, right down to local City Councils. Any candidate, no matter what, running as a Republican, must be rejected as I see it because by default, they are condoning Trumpism.

I like this take. Sheppard’s blitzing strategy seems to be an act of desperation. From everything I’ve seen so far this year, when they let their front four do their job and let the rest of the defense do theirs they are much better off.

Having watched the NFL for over 50 years, I felt the same way at that moment and still feel so. For those who blame our offensive and defensive coordinators for our current problems, let’s remember that Johnson and Glenn let a big halftime lead slip away when we were on the precipice of success.

Fans “demanding accountability” is like the hens demanding the fox leave them alone. The players work for the coach, the coach works for the GM, and the GM works for the owner. I’ll believe fans have any power when I see an empty stadium on Sunday.

Hmmm, just one Lion player. No wonder they lost because, of course, if your team wins, it’s because God likes you more.

This is absolutely a no-win situation for the Bills. No matter how they handled this, they’d be skewered.

rmtf.bsky.social @rmtf.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
Ok, he’s not Aaron Glenn. And many of our troubles last year and this year are on defense. But he doesn’t have his two best d-backs and I suspect he never will, at least not in top form. Brad Holmes has failed in finding adequate replacements and until that occurs we can’t fairly judge Shephard.

Interestingly, I recently read about a research project revealing that police officer is not among the more stressful jobs. Cops hold power and authority in most workplace interactions and the assertion that they “put their lives on the line every day” is more myth than reality.

Well, I know firemen and cops who I find very emotionally healthy. I also know racist ones who don’t have an alcohol problem. Perhaps the two I referenced earlier did perceive alcohol as an effective means of coping with job stress.

I had the Bills 34-10 in this one, but was hoping my Lions would make it more competitive, and they did. So for me this loss was expected and I believe ultimately useful because it really confirmed that the team is solid except for the defensive backfield. They’ve got to find a way to fix it!

A few weeks ago I posted that the 60’s underground group the Weathermen had it right when they said capitalism left unchecked would destroy our culture. This statistic perfectly illustrates how prescient they were.

Hours required to escape poverty on minimum wage:
1. JAPAN - 11 hours
2. UNITED KINGDOM - 23 hours
3. FRANCE - 26 hours
4. NEW ZEALAND - 29 hours
5. PORTUGAL - 31 hours
6. AUSTRALIA - 32 hours
7. BELGIUM - 32 hours
8. SPAIN - 32 hours
9. IRELAND - 33 hours
10. GERMANY - 37 hours
11. LUXEMBOURG - 44 hours
12. CANADA - 44 hours
13. UNITED STATES - 90 hours
Yes, 90 hours. One person on federal minimum wage ($7.25/HR) would need to work 90 hours a week to escape poverty.

Like the reactions to Colin Kapernick taking a knee and Tommie Smith and John Carlos holding up their fists at the ‘68 Olympics, trying to control another’s thoughts and opinions is the epitome of intolerance. I can only imagine what it must be like to have to be this umpire’s wife or children!

They’re friends of my older brother, from the old neighborhood in Detroit where I grew up. Are you familiar with the term “dry drunk?” These are alcoholics who are sober but not in recovery who abstain by pure will power, admirable in its own right, but often still carrying emotional baggage.

Our President is a serial abuser. His entire adult life, he has abused contractors who built his buildings whom he stiffed, he tried to execute the Central Park Five, he’s verbally abused political opponents and reporters and, of course, he has physically abused women and presumably children.

Interesting thought. It does generally seem that fire department culture is “be an empath” and the police department culture is “be a bully.” I’m sure there plenty of exceptions on both sides.

Roadside assistance providers negotiate very low payments to tow truck drivers. So drivers will only respond if they have no other private-pay customers who will pay them a fair amount for their work. NEVER pay for roadside assistance service. If it’s “free,” expect to wait hours when you need it.

Here in Michigan senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed has expressed his desire to reduce overcrowded prisons by paroling non-violent criminals, a common position among liberal candidates. But commercials claim he wants to set murderers free. That people actually believe that crap burns me to no end.
