Liew is one of the Refugee and Migrant Centre’s (RMC) experienced Level 1 Immigration Caseworkers. Liew believes that every small act of kindness can create a positive force, inspiring him to join the voluntary sector.

Claire’s role sits at the centre of the organisation’s volunteer programme, she is the first point of contact for every new volunteer, the person who welcomes them in, guides them through their journey and celebrates their growth. As she puts it, she is “the conduit, the bit in the middle that connects volunteers to the organisation.”

Every June the UK marks Volunteers’ Week, celebrating those that give their time to support others. As part of RMC’s recognition, this article aims to explore the differences between how volunteering was seen in the past and what it represents today, both within RMC and globally.
