Dissatisfied with the promoter making an AI flyer for your show? Give me $10 and I'll whip up a 100% human made digital flyer. No revisions, you get what you get, I do whatever I want, and you get the satisfaction of not perpetuating AI normalization, or AI entering the discussion near your art.

Saw the wildest thing on TV last night, an entire infomercial done by AI. I felt like my brain was melting. Crazier yet, it had had obviously been created in HD & poorly down converted to SD, so you see these AI presenters through a dreamlike haze & can't read any of the smaller text on screen

Miss hearing me talk the ska? I spent time w/ my boys from @ontheupbeatska.bsky.social again talking about the history of the show and other ska topics open.spotify.com/episode/5iT1...

It takes about 2 weeks, but when you alert Bandcamp to being host to AI music, they do review it and take it down.

It's taken 16 years of Ska podcasting for me to get to this point, and mainly because it's literally all I do now, lol

021

RJ Phoenix @rjphoenix.bsky.social · 16/03/2026

Thankfully I have the list of scheduled guests, and I'm only responsible for art, so I can get ahead without worrying about anything else

111

RJ Phoenix @rjphoenix.bsky.social · 16/03/2026

This year I'm really trying to tie the episode art specifically to the artists on the show Not saying I haven't (or won't) do "generic art" in 2026, but I'm gonna keep it to a minimum as much as possible

130

RJ Phoenix @rjphoenix.bsky.social · 16/03/2026

My favorite part of making the episode art for @megainfinity.band on @ontheupbeatska.bsky.social wasn't twisting the round logo into an infinity symbol, no, no, no. My favorite part was sneaking Winnie the Witch into the upper left corner

Watching online friends like @kylebutoverhere.bsky.social and April Dalton attempt to talk some sense into Save Ferris on Instagram today has sure been something... thanks for fighting the good fight as Mo continues to double down

For me, a week-ish Had it done early Monday morning, on some heavy drugs that day and Tuesday. Slept like a champ still on Wednesday, despite already trying to ween myself off the pain killers. Thursday & Friday, tired but not really sore. Feeling normal by Saturday afternoon

Punk section for sure. But the review must contain the obligatory line "While primarily know as a ska/punk band, on this track the band leans into it's purely punk side" somewhere

Dane, you're always a peach, thank you sir! Sorry I made Anthony and Matt ask you about Col. Jackson Dane of Team 7 and Wetworks / WildStorm & DC Comics fame, on On the Upbeat

Like, for real, HUGE thanks, it means a lot that I'm even on the map or fondly remembered by the ska scene at all It's always been a pleasure, and I kinda want back in cuz I want to have more good times and not have my time in the scene end on a sour note I'm pretty selfish like that

130

RJ Phoenix @rjphoenix.bsky.social · 23/01/2026

Also, being able to talk w/ you about the new @flyingraccoonsuit.bsky.social single, to Alex about @yourpomps.bsky.social, the cats in @thenewlimits.bsky.social, Scott on Stretsch Armstronng's return and the boys over at @enjoyyrself.bsky.social really helped a lot in my healing journey Thanks!

It's hard when I see 4 of these folks still held up in high esteem by the greater ska community Of course the 5th one was actually for real scary, which dims the light on the other 4, but they were already the reason I was stepping back

After 35+ years of #ska fandom, only 5 bad actors sucked the joy out of the greater scene for me I feel I've missed out on 2 years of music that I wasn't personally connected to... So greater ska community, I timidly ask... what have I missed?

RJ Phoenix @rjphoenix.bsky.social · 14/01/2026

Even past loves that I enjoyed as art for art's sake started to fall flat w/o a personal connection I started to peek out a bit this last year, and enjoyed it, even if my public ska evangelization fell flat/on deaf ears

RJ Phoenix @rjphoenix.bsky.social · 14/01/2026

While in the grand scheme of things, this feels rather unimportant, but my ego makes it important enough to drop it into the void.... But since early 2024 it has been hard for me to connect to the greater #ska scene, especially bands I don't have a personal connection with
