In yesterdays #railsworld2026 keynote DHH said that they’re switching to native apps for hey and that in the world of agents native apps make more sense. Just a couple of years ago he was all in on PWAs because they’re not hostage to Apple and their App Store rules.

I’m thinking of getting an iPhone Duo but prior I’d planned on quitting smartphones and switching to a semi-dumb phone. I want my life back. I want the magic smart box to not feel like the answer to boredom. Maybe the answer is to reduce them find enrichments rather than quit cold tofurkey.

Using browser extensions I’ve trimmed YouTube down to just the subscriptions page with no related videos shown. It’s amazing how boring it becomes when there isn’t endless content to consume! I don’t measure my screen time but I suspect more of it is spent in more useful places now.

I cancelled my preorder for a @frame.work desktop when it launched. It was max memory and 2gb, would’ve cost me £2400. Same config today is around £4000. Who knew how much I’d regret not keeping my preorder. 😢

I recently switched from Google workspace to @proton.me’s workspace. So far I’m not having too much trouble and I also gained a replacement for 1Password along the way. Lumo is still way behind the competition. Still I’m willing to accept compromises to support a European privacy focused non-profit.

I just uninstalled Claude cli. It’s like a gambling slot machine and I pull the lever and sometimes get the code that I want. But now my nd brain is really struggling to get out there and code for myself, and endlessly asking a tool to make changes doesn’t feel rewarding at all.

Did anyone know that a lot of lead contamination in things is its use as a colour. That’s where it used to be used in Le Cruset pans. Turmeric has a problem with lead contamination and it’s because it’s being used illegally as a colouring agent.

Been forced to use Microsoft 365 in recent days and the web experience is so awful. Especially with multiple editors at once. How is this considered the default? And no one who uses office seems to actually use the collaboration features. They’re sending copies of documents back and forward.

Delivery companies often claim you’re not in. What if their delivery app let you confirm you’re home and temporarily share your location data. They’d know you were home and it wouldn’t be a privacy issue since they have the address already. The answer is they probably don’t care 👀
