But I am also someone who can't do nothing. And rather than wait and find myself with a steep deadline, I start the next book. Except... Cos I am tired, and that does not make for the best thinking, I didn't. So I have 10k words of book four now. And none of book three.

Here is a quick tale of how being a writer and tired can make you do stupid stuff. One of the things you do as a writer, after a book is sold, is pitch more. I've pitched Mortedant 3 (Irody goes on Holiday) and Mortedant 4 (Irody finds makes an(other) enemy). Then you wait. I am waiting.

I just finished RJ Barker's Beasts Of The Wild Black. RJ doing SF with a twist. The hook is Cats In Space but there's a lot more to it - post-ecocide recovery, a new take on alien diplomacy, familiar crash-landing on a planet but with twists. Recommended, and a quick read. Sequel out next month.
