Lost my mind and started the holiday baking early, in order to use up a surfeit of ground almonds. Naturally I had to do a little test bake...the verdict? Success! The rest of the dough logs will stay tightly wrapped until needed in December. 🍜🍽️🍪

Good morning BlueSky! I made yet another dutch baby pancake for weekend #breakfast. This one has cold smoked pork cutlet (ham-like), Vintage Bruton Beauty cheddar, minced red onion and minced jalapeño. The batter was flavoured with mustard powder, onion granules, and white pepper. 🍜🍽️🥚

It's pretty tasty! Not too sweet. Very fragile texture, though, so a bit messy to eat. The white chocolate glaze was a bit thin, would make it thicker next time. 🍜🍽️

Today was a lot of little things going wrong. Not earth-shattering, just annoying. The last one turned out okay though: I meant to buy milk to make the biscuit top of my chicken pot pie... turns out I actually bought cream. Fortunately I had some kefir, so I used that and it worked really well! 🍽️🍜

Stopped eating to take a picture of the flakiness of this pie crust. It's held up beautifully in the freezer for longer than it ought. Crust recipe is from The Pie Room cookbook by Calum Franklin. I will definitely use it again! 🍽️🍜

One thing about going to Malmö Opera is that you can book a fun little sandwich for the intermission! When you arrive at your table it is waiting for you, so there's no wasted time in a queue.

I'm always thrilled to plate something this pretty, although now I see I could have addedtwo more rose-cut tomato halves. 🍽️🍜 My mom would always ask, "Is there another vegetable that could go on the plate?" which is what gave me the idea for the tomato in the first place.

Georgian feast night: Chicken satsivi, Svaneti potatoes, peach & tarragon salad, cucumber and tomato salad with red onion, Imerulian Khachapuri, & a churchkhela. We had this with a flinty orange Georgian wine. Satsivi is very difficult to photograph well & mine is a bit thicker than it should be.

I was talking about my mom's chicken almond earlier, but this is not that. This is a Spanish-inspired rice full of saffron, pimentón, olives, lemon, and a red pepper sofrito, topped with almond crusted chicken. It was very tasty indeed.

After vacation we're always craving vegetables, so tonight's dinner is my version of Seven Vegetables Couscous. I use my own preserved lemons, ras-al-hanout, and extra cumin and pepper for seasoning. 🍜🍽️

Mandatory Helados La Valenciana post. But what is the flavour? Mascarpone with a ribbon of tocino de cielo (aka heavenly bacon) named after the dessert of the same name — primarily a thick mixture of egg yolk and sugar. 🍜 🍨

Breakfast! This uses up the last of the Spoonbread (which I froze to keep it safe until today) warmed up and topped with poached eggs and jalapeño cheese sauce (using up some sliced jalapeños). I love it when a meal finishes off something & saves it from languishing. 🍜🍽️🥚🍳
