Riven Oak Farm - Steve @rivenoakfarm.com · 25/09/2026Equinox time of the year pictures. From the patio at the house, looking due east, sun is centered over the big live oak at the edge of the farm. 150
Riven Oak Farm - Steve @rivenoakfarm.com · 11/09/2026Hard at work, helping the ladies to a snack. #SkySheep #SmallFarmLife 2110
Riven Oak Farm - Steve @rivenoakfarm.com · 11/09/2026So not one of my usual 🌅 . Heard some thuds like car doors but knew nobody would be arriving, went out and 2 properties away a barn and car fire. I think every fire truck in the county came. 040
Riven Oak Farm - Steve @rivenoakfarm.com · 11/08/2026Golden orb spiders make huge webs. Tracy found this one in construction under a lamp post. Hopefully Bluesky doesn’t compress it too much. #SmallFarmLife 150
Riven Oak Farm - Steve @rivenoakfarm.com · 06/08/2026We did about 100 feet of the Appalachian trail, it runs down the Main Street of Hot Springs NC 040
Riven Oak Farm - Steve @rivenoakfarm.com · 05/08/2026Hello from our annual vacation in western NC. A huge Miata car gathering to go play on curvy mountain roads. A bear in Gatlinburg and lunch at Tapoco lodge near robbinsville. We don’t leave the animals much so a week away is big for us. 180
Riven Oak Farm - Steve @rivenoakfarm.com · 29/07/2026if you see this, we IMPLORE you to post a picture from whatever device you're using without explanation. 000
Riven Oak Farm - Steve @rivenoakfarm.com · 14/07/2026Stall cleanup after our rams broke their water hose and soaked their stall. About 15-20 loads of old bedding. We deep bed and after mucking put fresh bedding down, we had about 8” buildup to remove. Then barn lime it makes things smell better and helps drainage. 260
Riven Oak Farm - Steve @rivenoakfarm.com · 11/07/2026So while we were setting up a nice new pasture, the rams got bored and ‘rammy’. It’s nice to have the stall cams to figure out just how things played out. #SmallFarmLife 6110
Riven Oak Farm - Steve @rivenoakfarm.com · 04/07/2026The sheep demonstrate their remarkable reach when we are late for letting them out and they are HUNGRY! 071
Riven Oak Farm - Steve @rivenoakfarm.com · 03/07/2026The herd loves Dog Fennel, a pasture nuisance for the cattle people, but high on the list of goodies for sheep. And it doubles as a scratching post. 150
Riven Oak Farm - Steve @rivenoakfarm.com · 02/07/2026A couple of weeks ago I posted about a Doe parking her fawn for the day at our pond. Saw here again this morning, the fawn is no longer tiny, but still pretty small and still has their spots. 260
Riven Oak Farm - Steve @rivenoakfarm.com · 15/06/2026Weekend pics, Sunday evening sat in the pasture with the ladies. Had to explain not to eat my hair. Latte (Lottie), one of our smartest sheep, is giving what looks like an all hands meeting to the herd. They have loots of other room, but they all crowded into this stall #SkySheep #SmallFarmLife 0120

Riven Oak Farm - Steve @rivenoakfarm.com · 05/06/2026So settling into the day job, wearing my @kagi.com t-shirt to set the stage for a day of great search results and problem solving. 1100
Riven Oak Farm - Steve @rivenoakfarm.com · 29/05/2026We had not been to a theater since covid. Have seen it twice now. A bit of shock over the price of concessions. One of our main rams is Sebastian, slightly similar to the movie character. Our cast of Lilly played by pixel, cloud by Rebecca, and Sebastian playing himself. 120
Riven Oak Farm - Steve @rivenoakfarm.com · 25/05/2026Our Memorial Day tradition, the rotary club since (1960?) In Arcadia FL, has a memorial for 24 RAF airman trainees that died in Florida airbases learning to fly for WWII. It was safer to train in FL than UK. They are buried here in a UK specific area. 160
Riven Oak Farm - Steve @rivenoakfarm.com · 25/05/2026Sister in law helping 1 year old ‘Honey’ shed her lamb winter coat. We are a member of #LivestockConservancy #ShaveEmToSaveEm where people purchase rare breed wool to support farmers who raise them. #BarbadosBlsckbelly ‘wool’ is hard to find, and it takes a lot of sheep for 4 ounces. 140
Riven Oak Farm - Steve @rivenoakfarm.com · 12/05/2026Here is the next day, they had fun. Just stems mostly. They will have this tree for shade today and I expect more stems to be gone. The stems not that nutritious so hence why they still exist. 240
Riven Oak Farm - Steve @rivenoakfarm.com · 12/05/2026This is the before picture we let the herd loose on a lush section of grass. We have had a very bad drought, so this was a treat. 170
Riven Oak Farm - Steve @rivenoakfarm.com · 12/05/2026So a Makerel sky, means a change of weather coming in. Normally you get a band of clouds, but this evening it’s pretty much the whole sky! 030
Riven Oak Farm - Steve @rivenoakfarm.com · 08/05/2026Just got a delivery, about 85 lbs of flour so we would be set. Tracy makes sourdough bread for the market so we go through about 20 lbs a week. 120
Riven Oak Farm - Steve @rivenoakfarm.com · 05/05/2026Tracy giving end of day scratches to the #BarbadosBlackbellySheep some sheep love scratches some are more hands off. 160
Riven Oak Farm - Steve @rivenoakfarm.com · 05/05/2026I have a birthday coming up. My wife left me a present in front of the barn, 10 shiny new t-posts for whatever project I need them for. I’ve been stealing her tomato trellising t-posts recently, so having my own stash is great. 370
Riven Oak Farm - Steve @rivenoakfarm.com · 01/05/2026Today at the farm. Misty morning and Tracy has been making sourdough loaves all morning. Between the 3 hard freezes and the massive drought we are under, there is not a lot in the garden to bring. She pivoted to cut flowers and bread to bring to market. 040
Riven Oak Farm - Steve @rivenoakfarm.com · 26/04/2026Road Trip! We took 6 sheep ambassadors to #RemakeLearningDays a few week series of events to get kinds involved in learning and fun activities. We had sheep and the fleece to yarn story on display. There was also make a paper flower, plant a seed and take home in a pot. Facepainting, bounce house. 161
Riven Oak Farm - Steve @rivenoakfarm.com · 19/04/2026Well if I get it all together there might be some Zoom Zoom next week. So busy with the farm, I haven’t been to Sebring in 3 years 190

Riven Oak Farm - Steve @rivenoakfarm.com · 12/03/2026So was working through old photos and found this from 20 years ago. We were in Barbados and on an Island Tour. I think this was the north end of the island and saw these most unusual animals. I would have never though that we would now raise them. 270
Riven Oak Farm - Steve @rivenoakfarm.com · 10/03/2026The shearer is a big guy, but Sebastian is big and feisty. 160
Riven Oak Farm - Steve @rivenoakfarm.com · 10/03/2026From shearing day, we were pretty busy so just have some WebCam footage. This is Sebastian, one of our biggest and rowdiest rams. He gets to be first done in the morning, while the shearer is fresh. 280
