Yes I think that’s the right framing. But also, the other point about social structures being challenged does have merit.

it sounds like this will be at your place, not theirs -- I'd always argue for the 'sitting to be in the place of familiarity, own bed etc. also: they're tougher than they look; you will be more stressed than she is.

Isn't this a little like how we wonder why those in abusive relationships in general don't exit or appear to seek exit? Not logic but about being trapped, caged, in one's own mind; all hope closed off. From outside, if we're not trapped in that way, we can't understand it. (Trying to understand.)

Sounds like a paper or a collab with an anthropologist to write one would be interesting, if you haven't done this already. Community at this scale is a really new things for humans, historically. (And I can tell it hurt to acquire this knowledge.)

I tried getting earlier Sonnet and Opus to write Rust a year ago with mixed results — I had a very particular lock-free copy on write storage design and it constantly broke it. Latest ones are on another level in my experience.

as a friend put it: perhaps we'll get less "clever code" and maybe that's a good thing. (remembers trying to understand teammate's elegant perl code, shudders. we had to rewrite that stuff to maintain it. made it less clever, less elegant... and better)

This is amazing. Can see from the approach that this was largely mechanical -- preserve existing architecture down to a micro level, translate to Rust, validate with tests. So the real flex here is not "I used Claude" but "My project was already good so this was possible." But still -- Incredible.

that's interesting -- why, specifically? The UX of Junie vs Cursor for the LLM interaction, or something else? (ie what is "experience" referring to and how are those folks weighting that experience?)

They’ve kept working on it but now also integrate any of the major coding agent harnesses via ACP. New strategy. If you like their IDE then seems like a good idea.

This opening para of the review is pretty good, lol
Touch Me, Addison Heimann’s “bisexual alien sex horror comedy” (his words), proceeds about as one would expect from the preview — hip-hop dance routines, full-frontal tentacles, creepy housekeeper, all fairly standard — until the first head explodes, around the one-hour mark. Then things get pretty weird.

like a version of the regex joke. "We have a problem! We need your help!" Now you have two problems... if I were asked to help with a person lost/injured, I would (as a person, not as a MAN) feel obligated to help; but due to disabilities and poor competence in this area it is unlikely I'd be asked.

the god of the second anabaptist church in hayseed county idaho trudged about in the kingdom of heaven fuming in frustration. he'd been working on the hard problem of conciousness for the last million eons and still couldn't figure it out. at that instant his spidey senses tingled. someone was praying! it was a little girl of the name dana francis eidelhowser. a few weeks ago in sunday school it came up that god was having such trouble with the fundemental problem, so she spent some time of her own thinking about it. she had a bit of a breakthrough, so with her palms together she beamed up to him: "what if our conscious experience is a byproduct of our information processing capabilities? in particular, the faculty of our minds that cleave experience into concepts and objects might be turning back on itself, cleaving *itself* into its own object. it will take a bit of time to lay out the argument in formal language. so I will begin in earnest..." god listened very closely and waited for her to finish. "oh my child," he said when at last she had finished, "that's all very thoughtful of you. but to be honest, I was hoping for something a little more.. hmm.. analytical? your arguments have a distinct "continental" character to them which doesn't pass the smell test, I'm afraid." the little girl, within the enclave of her mind, balked at the rebuke of her creator. god, seeing inside her mind at that moment and into that private emotion, turned to the camera and mugged like jim from The Office.
