30 isn’t that bad, it’s over 40 where things get harder. I keep getting injured when I put in a hard training block. But I got my 5k down from 19.30 to 17.10 between 38 to 41 so you’ve still got time!

I recommend keeping a few distances in reserve to PB in when you get older. I’m going to struggle to beat my 5K time these days without a lot of work, but fortunately I’ve never really properly gone out at 10k so there’s still some juice left to squeeze.

I know someone who started a parody blog about Stu, which included a picture of a rat watching him push a can of coke up his bum. The police came and spoke him and had to try to keep a straight face while questioning him about the picture. He said it was one of the funniest things ever.

Yes his name in real life is Stuart Campbell, a former video games journalist from the early 90s. I was on some of the same gaming forums as him in the mid 2000s and he was a nutter back then as well. Had some really good times ripping the piss out of him over the profoundly stupid stuff he’d say.

My mental model is that it’s an amazing interpolator. So it can apply insights from geophysics to astronomy, or whatever. And because it knows all the literature it can spot all places where different approaches will work. There must be huge gaps to be filled in everywhere.
