I've been saying the same thing! Such a shame I have to fight morning darkness even more for 3 months because of the timing of a survey.

Collisions send people to hospital; one fatality
Five people are in hospital following a two-vehicle collision on Monday at the corner of Pembina Highway and Plaza Drive in which three pedestrians were struck. On Sept. 28, just after 4:30 p.m., a...

Good thing this sort of mixup will never happen in Winnipeg because we don't even have an airport

Yep, because why wait to see how it works out for our neighbours when we can switch it up last minute... Shocking to me that not changing a clock is such a priority atm for so many Manitobans www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Any takes as to why they'd make this up? Seems like a weird choice as there are a zillion hotter hot button issues to stir things up. (Not suggesting it is legit, more genuinely curious about the motivations if it is not legit)

It's kinda more interesting if some right wing grifter made this up. And doesn't change the number of folks willing to shame AOC for travelling with covid, even with the body of the article suggesting she is and will be masking.

Kate @rin-doodles.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
Me too! I am super curious about how that all played out. Like whether she specifically went to a clinic for a covid test and if so, whether she went masked. But again - super hard to hold her to any sort of standards given the societal expectation is to call it an autumn cold and carry on normally

Kate @rin-doodles.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
If you have covid, you should stay home. That being said...it is interesting that AOC is the first person I've seen shamed in at least 3 years for doing a thing that 100s of millions of people have been doing for the last 3 years because 99.2% of society has agreed to give 0 shits about covid

Turns out Corydon Biz got the secret amazingly correct weather forecast. Still sad it ended early, but I am slightly consoled by the fact that the motorcycles probably aren't blasting up and down Corydon at full volume in this weather

Looks like Open Corydon will be ending at 4pm tomorrow (the last day for the year) because ...checks notes... there's a 40% chance of rain. So disappointing. I went to Wolseley Farmer's Market 2 days ago in heavy rain and it was still packed. Seems almost fishy....

Also icky that local politicians were so involved in the opening celebrations. It's an American mega corporation opening a location in a parking lot. Politicians that care about people should be strongly opposed to this for several reasons.

"Funny" that all the conservative think pieces have been "Yay! Judges deciding this sort of thing is disgusting overreach" and none have been "Boo! The provincial government ripping out municipal infrastructure is disgusting overreach"

Reminds me of when they hired artists to paint on the "Enhanced Bike Route" streets at the end of September a few years back to make drivers respect the 30km speed limit. They had no impact and the paint didn't even last until the first snowfall (like 3 weeks later)

If I got paid a dollar for every time a random person asked me about what was going on and I had to explain it to them and tell them the days, hours, ending dates, etc - I'd have just about enough money to buy a milkshake at Milksmith

To me it's almost more concerning that they don't have someone with enough of a vision to put up signage about what Open Corydon is all about and maybe a schedule of different events. Instead someone created the most useless slop with the AI slop machine. It's weird.

Kate @rin-doodles.bsky.social · 31/08/2026
Every Sunday I am grossed out by the various AI "art" the Corydon biz uses (such as the impossible and bizarrely grotesque pizza maze), but these cutouts are particularly befuddling. Like why did someone bother making these? Even without AI they would be an odd use of resources

I mean, it is brilliant in a way. If Canada says yes to cooling it on the French stuff, then it fuels Quebec's desire to separate. If they say no, it fuels Alberta's separatists. It's not about trade, it's about dividing and conquering Canada

I think on some level I sometimes convince myself that I am indeed the only one capable of catching or spreading covid. Because worrying about everyone else I love getting infected and infecting others again and again and again without a care in the world...is just too much to keep doing.

It's so awkward when my 4-6 year old niblings ask me why I wear a mask. I legit don't know how to answer that without either implying their parents are wrong and we all should be masking or implying that for special reasons only I have to mask and/or I'm just crazy

Kate @rin-doodles.bsky.social · 29/07/2026
Yeah, it's tough when I avoid spending time with some people I used to and they assume it's because I'm "living in fear of covid", when a lot of it has to do with thinking they are kinda shitty
030
Kate @rin-doodles.bsky.social · 29/07/2026
..so even being generous, less than 5% were still masking. Sometimes thinking about the gulf between the 5% masking and the 65% that seemed to know masking was a good idea but wouldn't do it if it'd put them in the 5% makes me feel I've been less alone. Sometimes it makes me feel more alone.

I still mask up when I'm indoors and not in my own home. It's been incredibly lonely and isolating. Sometimes I think about a 2023 survey that said 7/10 Canadians would support a return of mask mandates. Yet, when I would go to the grocery store during this time, I usually be the only one masked ..

I have small social circles, but I know several very non-"high risk" people who nevertheless had their lives destroyed by long covid. Young people with no health conditions who run marathons and eat kale. I assume everyone knows of cases like this. I don't understand why this doesn't bother people

For anyone who thinks only the wacky Alberta UCP government will rig a survey to excuse ripping out bike lanes, I present the federal Liberals who clearly have an issue with not enough AI in the arts. Because not enough super cool awesome AI is the number one issue in Canada's art scene 🙄

Unfortunately I didn't see anything and walked over there and was super disappointed. I hope it's an anomaly and they don't plan to cancel it if there is rain, smoke, heat, etc because with the way summers are going, this will likely get cancelled more often than not

So Corydon isn't closed to cars today, apparently. Would probably make more sense to close more streets to cars and discourage people from making unnecessary trips during extreme heat events, but what do I know

Silver lining: I know 3 three about World Cup history and one of those things is that England hasn't won it in many many many years. So either they'll win it and we can stop hearing them be sad about that..or they'll lose again after getting oh, so close
