Submitting Delta 2.0 to the App Store 🤞

There’s definitely been a small (but noticeable) shift in how Apple’s treated us this past year; I’m hopeful it’s indeed a sign their approach to alternative marketplaces is evolving

Welp guess I won’t be able to actually test Delta on the Duo before it launches 😪

Thanks to our intern Zoe, I changed my iPhone’s lock sound to be Mario saying “BYE BYE!” and it’s music to my ears every time I lock my device 😌 RE: www.threads.com/@altstoreio/post/Dd…

As for actually playing games, yeaaahhh gonna need to update basically _all_ the skins to not be over the crease 😅 Which also means I need to figure out how to update Delta’s skin format to support that, since it currently assumes a constant 19.5:9 aspect ratio […] [Original post on threads.com]

Finally have a chance to play with Duo simulator — pretty happy with how Delta’s game library adapts to different poses! Wondering if the custom page control would make more sense as a vertical bar though 🤔 #Delta Duo

Ternus it is! I’m legitimately hopeful Apple uses this an opportunity to rethink its approach to developers and regulatory issues — but will take time to see if that’s true www.apple.com/newsroom/2026/04/tim-… #Apple

Took a lot of effort to make it all work seamlessly, but it’s pretty cool seeing likes appear natively in AltStore from both Mastodon and Bluesky 😊 #AltStore

You can technically view likes from Threads too…but unlike Mastodon & Bluesky the Threads API doesn’t support liking Fediverse statuses, so users have to manually find the Fediverse profile on Threads + like statuses themselves 😅 If the Threads API ever does support liking fediverse statuses […]

Fun fact, Apple tracks all downloads of apps in AltStore PAL (ostensibly to charge CTF) Would be pretty funny if Apple watched this become one of our top apps… RE: www.threads.com/@altstoreio/post/DU…

And in case you were wondering, we had no advance notice (as we expected) We simply received an email from Apple at 8pm EST last night with all the info we needed to launch AltStore in Japan, then spent the next couple hours prepping everything for launch

000

Riley Testut @rileytestut.threads.net.ap.brid.gy · 25/11/2025

As a result, installing the PAL beta will just update AltStore itself instead of installing another app. This wasn’t possible until recently though (app marketplaces previously couldn’t update themselves in-app…), so a lot of pieces had to come together for this! #fediverse

Riley Testut @rileytestut.threads.net.ap.brid.gy · 07/10/2025

That's not all, we'll also be officially launching AltStore PAL in Brazil, Japan, and Australia later this year, with UK to follow in 2026 🌏 This is the first time alternative app marketplaces will be available outside the EU and we are doing everything we can to get ready — stay tuned!

Riley Testut @rileytestut.threads.net.ap.brid.gy · 07/10/2025

Yes it’s true, AltStore is joining the Fediverse 🥳 Developers can now federate apps, updates, and news alerts to the open social web via our custom Mastodon server, and all likes, boosts, and comments will appear natively in AltStore. We plan to release this officially soon — but you can check […]

IMO if Apple’s worst, most egregious example of a harmful and dangerous app that’s now available through sideloading is *checks notes* porn…I think we’re doing OK www.apple.com/newsroom/2025/09/the-…

Excerpt from Apple newsroom post about DMA:

• New exposure to harmful apps: For the
first time, pornography apps are available
on iPhone from other marketplaces —
apps we've never allowed on the App
Store because of the risks they create,
especially for children. That includes Hot
Tub, a pornography app that was
announced by AltStore earlier this year.
The DMA has also brought gambling apps
to iPhone in regions where they are
prohibited by law.
