Long time listener, first time on the show. It was a pleasure talking to @richcampbell.bsky.social and @carlfranklin.bsky.social about something from so long ago now, that was so important at the time, and now people barely believe even happened.

I run Plex and file storage. I don't run VMs. I've not had any trouble with Plex 🙂 I also haven't added the SSD cache yet - it's on my list, but I've not felt a pressing need yet. Drives are 4x4GB Western Digital Red

I replaced my aging 418 with a 923+ this year and it's been great. It wasn't terribly cheap, but having only fairly recently upgraded the disks I could simply move them to the new chassis. I spend enough time on IT at work - home stuff needs to be straightforward 🙂

New week, new gig. Looking forward to going public with what that is later in the week. It doesn't come naturally to me, but I'm going do my best to up my presence here and elsewhere.

Hadn't realised I needed to register again. What a straightforward process, and love that it pulls through MVP categories for me to select. Bravo!

Rik Hepworth @rikhepworth.com · 04/12/2024

I registered, although I don't show up when I look at the site, so maybe I messed up. But there are far fewer RDs than MVPs. A few hundred, if memory serves.

Adding CloudBrew to the list. Runs in December in Belgium. Very well organised, great atmosphere, engaging audience.

Heading home after another fantastic #Techorama in Utrecht. Incredibly well organised as always. Had some great conversations with an excellent audience and spent time with lovely fellow speakers. Now present me was up at five am and regretting past me's life choices 😆😢

Conferences in cinemas are such a great experience for speakers. Who needs to zoom on a screen this size?! #Techorama

The huge screen in a cinema with a small speaker lecture in one corner, with the slide deck looking cool, twenty feet tall

The organisers of #Techorama always do cool stuff, but this is fantastic!

A heat wave in Yorkshire in October is a bad thing. Many orgs have the heating come on in October because it's normally parky outside. Today I'm in an airport. The heating is on. The Aircon is not. I'm slowly melting!

This week is Techorama in Utrecht. That means quiet Rik tries to post more. Really looking forward to seeing friends and learning loads over the next couple of days. Techorama.nl
