In Rachel Ruysch’s day, wealthy patrons were willing to pay 1,000 guilders or more for her lavish floral still lifes. Ruysch was the most famous artist of her time and even became court painter to the Elector of the Palatinate. 💐 👁️ id.rijksmuseum.nl/200108485

The place of pets in people’s lives has changed dramatically through the ages. For centuries, animals were valued mainly for travel, transportation and work. But gradually, their role began to change.  www.rijksmuseum.nl/en/collection/no…

In this painting from around 1756, Jean-Etienne Liotard’s wife is pouring herself a cup. The painting on the wall offers a little glimpse of the interior of the Nieuwe Kerk in Delft and was most likely based on a work by Hendrick Cornelsz. van Vliet. ☕  👁️ id.rijksmuseum.nl/20021964
