I'm looking forward to "stop writing code" and "stop reading code" to evolve into "stop running code" and we just revert back to an agrarian society.

New status update! Better response UI, real fediverse outboxes, profile update fixes, faster fediverse delivery, security and reliability improvements, and more…
snarfed.org
Hi everyone! Welcome to another Bridgy Fed status update. Since last time, we’ve been focusing on a big new project that we’re almost ready to start beta testing, but we also managed to ship some smaller features and improvements: * From the Atmosphere: * Support posts with link embed but no text * Improve account deactivation/delete handling * Fix missed profile updates when you make more than one in a row * To the Atmosphere: link previews for bsky.app links * From the fediverse: handle pinned posts in paged collections * To the fediverse: * Serve real outboxes again * Speed up delivery for accounts with many followers * Preserve line breaks in profile bios * From the web: ask for confirmation before bridging * DM notifications: * Notify you of responses to replies you send from the web UI * Show original posts from Atmosphere users who are only visible to logged in users * Internal: * Security: more hardening against SSRF, XSS, and CSRF attacks * Add a load balancer * Faster `listRepos` * Real `collections` in `describeRepo` * Improve firehose reliability * Switch “Bluesky” to “Atmosphere” in docs, UI, etc As usual, feel free to ping us with feedback, questions, and bug reports, and please support us on Patreon! You can follow the _now_ label on GitHub to see what we’re currently focusing on. See you on the bridge!

@antirez.bsky.social and his work on DS4 is probably one of the few counterexamples (I'm pretty sure he's against fascist shit, I may be wrong). Local inference in general is anti-authoritarian, I'd say, but we still have massively centralized training and I'm not sure that is "solvable".

Forgive my ignorance, but isn't SpaceX announcement related to them intending to move orders to spaceship? I think Europe needs to keep their launch capacity but I don't think we should interpret SpaceX actions as shutting down all their launchers

AP Stylebook warns against anthropomorphizing AI systems: “Avoid language that gives them human characteristics… Instead, explain what a system does, how well it performs, who built it and who could be affected by it.”

Artificial intelligence systems do not think, feel, want or understand. Avoid language that gives them human characteristics. This is called anthropomorphizing, when we ascribe human traits, emotions or behaviors to non-human things, such as animals or inanimate objects.
Instead, explain what a system does, how well it performs, who built it and who could be affected by it.

Notes from a regime change part 1
In 2026, after 16 years of Viktor Orbán ruling Hungary, we finally changed our government. This is a momentous change, and I think it's worth explaining it a bit, as someone who's been around the whole time. The 2006 mess I came to Hungary the first time in 2006. That year, Ferenc Gyurcsány was elected...

Holy shit. Bloomberg just verified one of my biggest scoops - that Microsoft only has 2gw of operational capacity. I had it at 1.993GW in prep for the story that @aishadown.bsky.social and I did for the guardian. Vindication! www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

Lot of speculation out there about how many GPUs are actually deployed.
Today, Microsoft has about 2GW of Al-specific capacity live. around 17% of the total fleet.
Only about 2 gigawatts of the company's current 12-gigawatt capacity is centered on Al-specific chips, the people said. This is expected to grow to about a third of the 38 gigawatts Microsoft plans to have online in 2032, they said.
