And that is the point. Cycling here is just a safe, convenient, cheap and healthy way of travelling. If you make it less convenient, by mandating helmets for example, you will push more people into cars. Making traffic less safe overall and cities less livable.

Please compare bike usage and casualty numbers between our countries before you get all judgemental. And yes, it took us a long time, since the 70's, to get where we are. And without our infrastructure I wouldn't bike without a helmet. In fact I'd probably not bike at all.

Here in The Netherlands tipping is usually just rounding up to a convenient round number. And it's never expected. They are trying to introduce adding a percentage to payment terminals, but the general reaction to that is anger. It doesn't help that eating out is already very expensive.

A couple of years ago AEG pushed a firmware update for a different device to some of their ovens, bricking them in the process. If you were affected you had to wait for an engineer to come over and fix it. We have one such oven, I fortunately never connected it.
