I ran the Newport Rhode Races Marathon yesterday in 4:33:31, beating my marathon personal best by 26 seconds! It’s raining in Boston now, but it should be good weather for watching the Boston Marathon tomorrow.

LinkedIn spared no expense researching schools for these rankings!

Student hotspots: BC students often stop in the McElroy campus bookstore, and venture beyond The Heights for food at spots like Circle Pizza or recently-opened Pop Up Bagels.

I had a great time at the Eastern States 20 Miler on Sunday, but now I’m totally knocked out with runner’s flu. The human body is confusing…

I miss the days when tweeting during a #SOTU just involved making ironic references to Bush’s hydrogen car plans.

Boston College friends! You have until March 7 to check out the Faculty & Staff Art Show in Carney 203. I have a few drawings in the show, and it’s a great peak into the arts at BC.

The Faculty & Staff Art Show 2025

Presented by Gallery 203

Gallery 203 is proud to showcase the recent work of Boston College faculty, featuring a dynamic selection of art across a range of disciplines. The exhibition includes thirteen artists and twenty works of art, representing departments such as Studio Art, Film, Global Health and the Common Good, Nursing, and Institutional Research and Planning. The featured works encompass a variety of mediums, including painting, printmaking, ceramics, video installations, and drawing.

Boston College employs more than 3,500 individuals, including scholars, teachers, administrators, and staff, who are dedicated to supporting students and advancing the University's mission. The Faculty and Staff Show features a few of these individuals and their work. This exhibition highlights the contributions of a few of these faculty members, celebrating the depth of their expertise and the creativity they bring to both their teaching and their artistic practice.

The diverse themes explored by these artists reflect the richness of the faculty's academic and personal backgrounds. Topics range from cross-cultural dialogue and policymaking to health inequities, environmental relationships, individual identity, and gender dynamics. Together, these works offer a unique overview of the wide-ranging scholarship at Boston College, illustrating the ways in which faculty inspire and challenge students and the Boston College community.

Special thanks to Sammy Chong and the Art Club for collaborating with Gallery 203 on this exhibition!

Great long run today. I wish the water fountains along the route weren’t all turned off during the winter. Seems like we should have the technology to figure that out…

Here’s an interesting user experience story. I’ve walked past this sign several times in the past few days, and every time I thought to myself, “It’s so annoying that they carelessly blocked the sidewalk with that road sign.”
