#dailyhaikuprompt - pheasant A sudden squawk breaks The peace. A startled pheasant Breaks cover, flapping. My daughter was selling this in her Etsy shop for a couple of years, one of my favourites.
Artwork, drawing of a pheasant in front of scrawled words reading: Hello! I am a pheasant and you can tell that I am a pheasant because I have just run out in front of your car and now I am just looking at your car and wow what a big car I like looking at your car and now I will move a bit but not enough because I am a pheasant

Spending a couple of weeks on the Kent coast, got out last night just after the sun had gone down for some coastal photos. I think this is my favourite one, slightly surreal, futuristic even.
An evening shot of a pier, taken from a stony beach. Blue-ish evening sky with clouds gathering. Lights along the pier, reflected in the incoming waves of the sea. A lit café at the end of the pier throwing out more light.

In Glasgow for a couple of days, so naturally had to pay my respects to St Mungo. Also Sir Billy.
Mural filling side of a house beside a busy road. Apartments opposite heading down the hill. Mural shows a bearded man with red woolly hat and grey scarf and coat, a robin perched on index finger of his left hand. Artwork by Smug, officially untitled, known as St Mungo.Mural shows Sir Billy Connolly, on side of a building surrounded by cranes and hoardings indicating ongoing building work. Below Billy's face, a caption reads 75BC-2017AD. Around the edge is written "Fling a chucky in the watter, see the baggy minnies scatter. Billy Connolly". By Rogue One after a portrait by John Byrne.

Ok, so thinking about the haiku I may or may not get around to writing tomorrow, I get to the question of how many syllables in "everybody". Yeah, I googled it. Thank goodness for the AI overview, I have a very clear answer. Guess I'll go with 4, as per Eddie Cochran.
AI overview from Google search "how many syllables in everybody", which summarises the answer as "The word "everybody" has four syllables: ev-er-y-bod-y."

Final day of Dublin trip yesterday, back to normal cool drizzle so we loitered in National Gallery's Portrait collection (which is oddly difficult to track down), and then found ourselves in the Last Bookshop. What a place. Couldn't quite get to grips with […] [Original post on mastodon.org.uk]
A small room full of books. Narrow path down the middle, stacks of books on either side, some 3 deep. Bookshelves behind the stacks, going up to the ceiling. Midway down on the right, an optimistic red plastic broom.Close up of stacks of books. Random selection of titles: Salt, by Margaret Briggs; The Gallery of Regrettable Food, by James Lileks; Bringing Cooking Back Home, Donal Skehan. Bookshelves behind holding hardback political biographies. Framed above, passages from classics including the final sentence of Frankenstein by Mary Shelley.

Sneaking in a few days in Dublin before heading back to work next week. Beautiful weather today for a train trip to Howth, walking on the cliffs for a couple of hours. The smell of that gorse.. #dublin #howth #cliffs #lighthouse #walking

Yellow gorse flowers adorn the clifftop merging together into middle distance.Yellow gorse in foreground gives way to cliffs dropping sharply into a cove, seabirds nesting in the cliffs. Blue sea beyond, and a ferry on the horizon heading towards the port at Dun Laoghaire

The annual tradition of photographing the crocuses at Wallington. Beautiful spring morning, glad to have got there reasonably early - absolutely full of people and queuing cars when we left. A few lambs in the fields on the way back, not featured in photos.
A carpet of purple crocuses on a large lawn, with a path of grass cleared through the middle, a tree framed on the right hand side and a large glasshouse in the background. Location is the walled garden at Wallington, Northumberland Purple crocuses in a narrow strip of lawn, beside a gravel path, both forming parallel lines converging to a common vanishing point in the distance. Beyond, to left, a clump of trees on a hill. Bright, sunny spring morning.Shot from above, a small group of purple crocuses clumped and distributed over a green lawn.Close up of yet more crocuses, catching the sunshine, being visited by a bee.

#DailyHaikuPrompt - turnip All pulled the turnip That most enormous turnip But none could lift it Another nostalgiac #haiku this morning...
Ladybird book cover of The Enormous turnip, dating from 1970s. A giant turnip is shown with a line of people, starting with grandfather and grandmother and going down through generations, all holding on in their place in the line to pull. They are dressed in what might be assumed russian or east european traditional dress.
