Richard de Briançon @ricyclist.bsky.social · 22/09/2026Waiting for OH (zoom in) at the top of the col de Valbelle, once a classic car rally-racing climb but now largely forgotten. After 2 weeks of this stuff am a bit sick of gravel riding. Looking forward to 2 weeks in London and its pubs. 120

Richard de Briançon @ricyclist.bsky.social · 16/09/2026Tour day 3: after an excellent and discrete wild camp pitch in the forest above Oulx the ride to the next high gravel road begins. 100
Richard de Briançon @ricyclist.bsky.social · 15/09/2026Tour day 2, part 3: a couple of hours behind schedule, so ended up benigjted on the mountain. No problem as weather was good and syrong ligjts had been packed. Eventually got low enough to be able to wild camp on the forest. 110
Richard de Briançon @ricyclist.bsky.social · 15/09/2026Day 2, part 2: painfully slow progess along this very dusty and rocky gravel road, the strada dall’Assietta. Already climbed 900+ meter to reach the start and there’s now 30 or so kms of high level trail. 130
Richard de Briançon @ricyclist.bsky.social · 15/09/2026Morning of Day 2 of the minitour. Spent a few hours climbing up a montainside to finally reach the top end of the fort. 010
Richard de Briançon @ricyclist.bsky.social · 14/09/2026Local mini-tour, day 1: over the Mo thenevre pass into Italy, then taking mostly gravel paths and the original lanes connecting the villages up to Sestriere and along the valley on the other side the Fenestrelle. Nice camp site and town with impressive 19th century fort. Must return for a look. 100
Richard de Briançon @ricyclist.bsky.social · 09/09/2026Waiting for the rain to cease so I can do this 3 day mini tour of (mostly) gravel roads. The first and last peaks are in Hautes-Alpes, the rest in between are just across the border in Piedmont. 000

Richard de Briançon @ricyclist.bsky.social · 27/07/2026A shortcut route to l’Alpe d’Huez emalong a balcony road turned into a bit of a nightmare when I enounteted the aftermath from the storms a couple of weeks ago. Zoom in to see what these avalanches of rubble look like. Carrying the bike over 2 metres high piles with a 400 drop just a slip away. 🤔 100
Richard de Briançon @ricyclist.bsky.social · 25/07/2026What a day. No internet réception up there, so onlh now postingvup pictures. I found a superb spot just along from the Galibier tunnel, a small shelf of grass looking down on the winding road. The view enabled at least 10 minutes of race action to be viewed. 140
