Thatcher didn't give the order, it was a group decision from the war cabinet.

The SAS never were going to bomb Aerospatiale. And there was no intercepted convoy for Peru.

Falklands War season is always a busy time of year for me... Sadly my main audience is on Twitter, and I only wish I could devote more time to it over here too.

Most people actually feel sorry for American tourists. We sympathise.

Already written about in the book "Tied With Wires" ☺️

Yep, Cacho and Pinky, conning the nation. I wrote all about it in the book "Last Letters from Stanley".

My wife calls it "The F-word" because I talk about it slightly too much 🤣

It simply wasn't. I've heard some bizarre conspiracy theories, but this is up there with Invincible getting sunk 19 times in the same month.

No, it's a complete load of crap. This is tin foil hat stuff.

It's actually covered in a lot of detail in my book "Tied With Wires" 😊

July 1987 Moscow: Trump is 41 years old, he flies to Moscow at the invitation of the USSR Ambassador to the USA, Dubinin. Returning from Moscow, the bankrupt Trump suddenly receives loans from 16 banks and without bargaining buys "The Plaza Hotel" for $407.5 million - a record price for a hotel...

Sending a quarter million homeless women and kids into a war zone where Trump just disabled the air defence system.

I mean, Ireland has no natural enemies and the UK would immediately act if anyone tried anything. I occasionally wonder why Ireland has a military in some respects. But I totally agree with your point. I'm friends with the man who wrote Siege at Jadotville.

And yet he's demanding $500 billion in resources from Ukraine, claiming he wants his money back... He's also a thief.

Trump announced for the first time the actual figures of US aid to Ukraine: America provided $67 billion in military aid & $31.5 billion in direct budget support. The total amount of US aid to Ukraine is $98.5 billion, and not $350 billion, as Trump previously stated. He's a liar...

I personally straddle both, and actually I see benefit in standing up over on Twitter and not making it a fascist echo chamber. It is very hate filled now though, but decent people are turning it around and fighting back.

An HS293 couldn't have cut it in half. A Fritz X could and so, I believe, did. Either way, it wasn't a torpedo.

With Europe beginning to step up to Russia, is it time to set Harry Flashman on them again yet? 🤔

Odd for a ship named after a God with two faces that she was blown in half.

My Great Uncle Jim was on board and one of the survivors. He saw it happen and confirmed it was a Fritz X. He'd served on Janus before and had only just been called back to serve on her again.

Fan of Military History and the Falklands War? Watch this space, because from now until the 45th Anniversary of the war in 2027 a whole lot of what you thought you knew, is going to change 😎👍

Happy Discovery Day to the British South Shetland Islands, discovered this day, February 19th, 1819 by William Smith and still 206 years later, forming part of British Antarctica. Smith Island in the British Antarctic Archipelago still bears his name.

No the US just stripped the UK Patent Office bare instead... Including the plans for the Atomic Bomb which were an Admiralty patent... Just a bit of historical context.

Trump and Musk have FIRED the Federal Workers at the Veterans Crisis Hotline... More blood on their hands. This is the same Trump who branded the American dead of Omaha beach as "losers".

"Book burning" the 2025 way... Whether or not you agree with certain materials, it's important to open minds and not hide things from children that you don't want them to read: it will be their world soon, not ours.

One of my readers and a good friend, Peter Corridan, just sent me this as his book arrived. "Phoenix & Belgrano: The Life and Death of a Warship" was easily one of the best books I've ever written. My first WW2/Falklands war crossover, which traced the history of USS Phoenix/ ARA General Belgrano.

It's less a renewed American Civil War brewing... Although needed... More like "Bleeding Kansas" in every State if you ask me. Those little hands will be stained red, and they are already.

There's a great quote which goes: "If you ever wondered what you'd do if Fascism, Nazism and the Holocaust returned... You're doing it right now."

110

Ricky D Phillips - Military Historian @rickydphillips.bsky.social · 15/02/2025

Sadly true... The entire US is literally being handed over in chains and passing under the yoke... It's shameful to see.

One serious accusation of r*pe plus 25 other accusations, and evidence of him actually noncing kids at Epstein's parties (this girl is 14 at most) yet this man told you the biggest threat to women was trans women in public bathrooms... No it is not. It's rich white guys who can pay top lawyers.
