Sekigahara: The Unification of Japan. My first war game. Quality experience, I’d like to get into more streamlined wargames, specifically the COIN series from GMT games. We stalemated and the victory came down to points and area majority. #boardgames

Architects of the West Kingdom. This one’s a banger. The theme integrates very well into the teach, and the turn structure is straightforward and it’s got some teeth. The scoring isn’t too fiddly, which I also like. #boardgames

The Isle of Cats. I love polyominos, scratches my brain just right, but the game makes you do a lot of other fluff with the draft and all that before you can pick a tile and place it on your board. I do have Isle of Cats Duel which I haven’t played, but feel like I’d like better. #boardgames

What have I played since last time? Cascadia. Of late, I’ve been trying to get into old-school-German-style games, and Cascadia is not any of that. I dislike how multiplayer solitaire it is, and how you’re poring over a bunch of cards to figure out scoring each game. #boardgames

And i quite enjoy Flamecraft Duals with the fiancee. Hopefully I can convince her to let me get rid of the bigger game, which while fun is not enough game for me in a fairly big box #boardgames

Definitely. Quick to play for a fairly meaty game. The teach takes a second but people follow after a couple of turns.
