"Society will need to decide...", sure, once the people getting obscenely wealthy have done buying the politicians and influence they need to allow them to continue however they like I am sure society will decide, but Bill knows he is talking nonsense

I mean sure, but it's more of a reason why we should be clearing out vast swathes of our political establishment, the ones that would implement such a system and the ones that support and cheerlead it for their own personal gain

Yeh! Bribery of politicians is the British way clearly

A long time ago I retired thrash & high tempo tracks from any driving playlists because it had a significant effect, but if a data tracking company can recognise that level of effect I'd be rather upset about the amount of tracking and levels of data that company have access to

Their newsroom ... GB News? BBC? OfCom? I mean it's all so confusing about which one they mean

Must be fine then, Reforms lying liars who lie would never be dishonest about the totally legitimate and sacred Internal Enquiry now would they, did they award themselves gold stars for bestest rules followers, honest guv while they were at it?

Yeh, that would convince me the leave their datacentres alone for awhile and start with the management suite ;)
010
Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
What would be interesting, in a I want to burn down your datacentres kinda way, is if they could with some accuracy predict the variance in travel time based on the music I was playing but never noticed anything beyond reasonable average estimation, which is lucky for their datacentres

Did they suddenly remember the "counter" part of his role?
010
Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Well you can certainly see it that way, I don't and doubt there are many who would vote for the Greens or other left leaning parties that will agree even ones not entirely comfortable with the whole declaration
020
Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
So they are saying Labour would rather Farage be in government than work with the Greens? Interesting strategy, but seems consistent with their current approach

Easy way to test it isn't there, oh wait, now is not the time, blah blah generation blah, harumph not sure something something. What we do know is that Swinney asked for one and all we hear from the unionists is no

Never paid close enough attention to the stuff under Corbyn to know if it was particularly worse than the other forms of racism and bigotry we see in politics currently, but we really need to get to a point where all racism & bigotry is completely unacceptable from politicians

Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
This argument comes across very strongly as not wanting to offend the racists who have convinced themselves they aren't really racist, well not really really racist, thought it's kinda what you expect from large swathes of UK journalists

Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Gotta wonder at which point it will sink in the US foreign and domestic policy is geared towards enriching Trump and his friends, there is no guiding principle beyond that
020
Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
As bad as it is, I think the people to want you to hate others on the basis of ethno-nationalism would find other ways to get people to hate each other if that option was shut down, have to remember while fighting the mechanism the people using it are still the biggest problem
000
Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
Absolutely, but the current administration beyond some performative words seems pretty much the same, and it seems pretty clear every political party from Labour going right would likely follow the same path if not worse, so Starmer may lead the pack but a lot of UK politicians are helping him on

Yeh that war on drugs is going so well, why do people with no clue at all about the overall effects of drug decriminalisation feel the need to talk such utter garbage on a regular basis.

Yikes, Tom thinks he has been purchased for something other than political access?

I imagine he finally remembered his team mate did a very similar thing in a sprint race last year, newer drivers at opening laps or restarts is just a learning thing, as long as they learn it's just racing
000
Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
Absolutely
000
Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
Oof, Lando should spend a few moments remembering some of the special moments he's had on track causing problems for other drivers before opening his mouth about banning people, it was a dumb move which isn't that unusual from newer drivers
020
Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
Hmm it's really not that hard, you just need to stop trying to adjust Scotland to meet the Labour party policies, and adjust the Labour party policies to support the Scottish people, most other stuff should follow on from there
000
Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
Yeh, I think if you just find a blank wall you'll get more of a useful debate that Jackson, he seems more interested in editing his wikipedia entries than actually learning anything anyway

It will save us all from listening to awful podcasts in future?! Hmm still not worth it, but it's getting there

Is there a dispute? I mean, I know shit politicians occasionally roll it out as a way to distract from their awful leadership and making everyone in Argentina's lives worse, the people who live there want to remain the way they are, they didn't replace anyone else. Do ban the oil drilling though

Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
Malky's entire political career is a pointless vanity project, poor fella spent so much money getting himself into a parliamentary position now he has to storm off like a petulant child
010
Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
Lol, it's a bunch of ex-politicians LARPing on a TV show, and seem to be playing the clueless squad, if their behaviour on the show is remotely representative of how they'd behave then hopefully they'll all be kept away from any future political positions
000
Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
Yeh, Scotland could also be turned into a place which does nothing more than generate power and consume it in huge data centres while destroying the environment around them, doesn't sound like a particularly interesting method of generating this guy money
010
Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
Well, he has to be able to provide more support the next time he tries to incite insurrection right? control of airport, pentagon and bridges in the area is clearly important, especially if you may need to run away

Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
There are some limits
020
Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
um so companies are hooking up with Palantir to manage their stock & sales information and personnel records, and given it's access to so much government data it's like Google, Facebook and Amazon combined on steroids .. yikes

Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
One should be called "But Ferries!!!" to recognise the obsession certain parts of the media and the average yoon have for ferries
050
Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
Absolutely, and there are other things that can be introduced to reduce the limit on spending for political advertising, force social media campaigns to be pre-approved by electoral commission before platform can accept them and be stricter on media appearances, as well as limiting donations
000
Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
Absolutely, but if it costs positions the impact can be far higher. Safety cars are far from ideal, VSCs are still relatively new, the drivers and teams work to improve these over time as safety & other factors require, the last thing needed is a media crusade over Lando being impacted in one race
110
Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
So you are being unfair to teams with drivers close to each other than need to double stack
110
Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
No, the whole point of the VSC over the standard safety car is to reduce the impact to the smallest possible and let racing happen. It's very rare and just bad luck for this, no need to start changing the rules

So in a couple of days, Reform have taken almost as much as the Labour & Tory parties combined took in the entirety of 2025. I guess they are a bit keen to see if they can up their intake while they work out how best to ask their corporate & Union contributors for more
011
Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 12/09/2026
Our politicians in general are really not very trust worthy when it comes to anything which effects themselves, we should really bin this lot completely then impose reasonable term limits on the next set, and probably give them stronger rules on money in politics and acceptable behaviour
000
Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 12/09/2026
This whole approach of letting politicians decide how money can be injected into politics is never going to work well, because it never has worked well. The decisions really need to be taken out of their hands, they simply can't be trusted
020
Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 12/09/2026
Such a surprise, when our politicians have left democracy open for sale for so long that people are starting to spend a lot of money on it. Politicians are both dumb and at a conflict of interest when it comes to limiting money in politics, they need to be removed from the decision making process
010
Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 12/09/2026
I'm sure we can trust the cryto-crim who bought his pardon from Trump Mart to not abuse that influence he just purchased ... eh
040
Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 11/09/2026
It's been clear for a long time that the amount of money being pumped into politics was a problem, particularly large amounts from individuals, and yet our elected politicians have time and again refused to do anything about it because they wanted their cut, it's past time for a different approach
020
Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 11/09/2026
Not to diminish the horrific events on 9/11 in any way, but to say we haven't come close to that horror since, to me at least is completely ignoring what has been happening, and is still happening to Gaza and it's people. Even with constant lies and misinformation attempting to minimise the carnage.
010
Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 11/09/2026
Hard to say it definitely wouldn't happen, I mean what does Trump care, it won't be him paying it and he'll be gone before the economy completely collapses. If he could buy this election, he can buy himself through the next one and continue looting the US for him & allies till they all flee

Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
Are they sure? maybe their bot swarm organised a new deal and is planning run away with some chips from Samsung

The palantiri were masterworks of Feanor, subverted by Sauron when he realised he could use them like fantasy social media to lie and deceive the weak minded that connected
010
Rick @rick-sco.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
I mean, is that really necessary if OpenAI peoples are drooling over the prospect of AI killing off humanity, do they REALLY need a strong supply chain?
