I loved Doireann Ní Ghríofa's SAID THE DEAD. It's utterly captivating and intensely immersive. Another uncategorizable triumph. Review: wordhoarder.wordpress.com/2026/09/10/s...

Dark, moody illustration of a coastal city with dead, black water as thick as treacle in the foreground. Book Cover.

Good crate digging this weekend! Something for every mood. #vinyljunkies

A bunch of record sleeves, oddly all feature mainly black backgrounds. Police, Billy Joel, U2, ET Soundtrack, Queen, and one CD by the great Maria McKee.

My coffee was stone cold by the time I was done reading this bookseller's analysis of the AI companies' buying up and destructively scanning 60 years of the printed word.

I like Frozen, but probably Stockholm syndrome... I remember the all-Frozen-all-the-time years very well (I have 2 daughters), & the many, many mash-ups. But, same daughter & I are Demon Hunters fans, & have been working to convert the rest of the family.

My daughter works with 4 & 5 year-old kids. She say they are as crazy into KPOP Demon Hunters as her generation were into Frozen.

People are so propriatory about "their" stories. Reminds me of a book tour I organized for a historian writing about a murder. A tour guide who had shown the writer around the cemetery where the dead were buried turned up at the first event & monopolized the discussion as if it was their own book.

Three actors sit on a bench on a sunny spring day, cherry blossoms on the trees. The cover of the novel Leonard and Hungry Paul is superimposed over this.

Yeah, it may be a factor of the insulation success brings. I was similarly disappointed to see Mike Scott of the Waterboys embracing AI slop on social media -- ironically to bring attention to unacknowledged rock & roll pioneers! Will simply spend my $ elsewhere.

Sara Baume's Opening Night is a fascinating piece of reportage/memoir/meditation about the life choices of an artist and the messy nature of friendship. I find all her books fascinating, and this was no exception. Review: wordhoarder.wordpress.com/2026/07/09/r...

Just got a copy of the new Sara Baume book, Opening Night, and can already tell I'm going to love it. Which his no real surprise, as I've enjoyed all her previous books. She writes so well about art, life, and the mundane rituals and joys of both.

Went to a packed theater to see Mando & Grogu with a bunch of friends and we loved it, diehard and casual fans alike. Was exactly what you expect: just with a bigger screen and more/better CGI. Lot of laughter in the theater (at the right places), which isn't always the case for Star Wars films.

Interesting that people (incl. me) would rather think "Maybe this was written by AI?" than admit it's just bad writing. Don't want to hurt somebody's feelings.

Be careful what you wish for: I found some of my teenage vinyl records, and discovered how much less cool my teenage self was than I like to remember: wordhoarder.wordpress.com/2026/05/18/b... #music #vinyl #turntables

Several album covers showing various '80s bands trying hard to emote coolness, and two with random images of archers and a wavy dial. One cringey home-made cover with images clipped from music magazines and tape that's peeling off.
