Size comparison of the Multisystem2 Pocket - Handheld MiSTerFPGA. We are just about Gamegear sized, but with much longer battery life!

That’s the focus, but it is a true Multisystem (MiSTer) so many cores look and work great. The Amiga is quite fantastic on it. Arcades work great for both vertical and horizontal.

Yes, they are. Everything on both JoySTIX is modular so lots of options for different controls.

Nice. I have a few GRiDPad’s to restore, 386 tablet PC’s. Purchased in the mid 90’s. I’m also about to open up a more modern GRiDCASE PC to see if it’s possible to get it running again.

A few new (old) physical pickups. Looking forward to trying Pirates for the PSP. No idea about Henry Hatsworth?, but it looked fun. Could not resist Bangles & De La Soul at the local charity shop.

The Lynx games do work well, you also don’t need to rotate the system to play the vertical aspect ones. Lynx Klax looks and plays really great on this handheld.

Industrial design is progressing well. We have a few more details to add and change, but we should have prototype enclosure shells to test out in the next couple of weeks.

I think the Dual GBA 2 player core looks pretty great with both player screens stacked together. This is two independent GBA cores running together on the FPGA for 2 player linked games.

Another very successful day of prototype testing today. We completed testing the docking station and everything works perfectly. We now have a charge and I/O dock for the Pocket MiSTer that also has lots of cool features too. More details soon, you are going to love it.

We are not making a Switch2 or Steamdeck. It’s inspired by handhelds of the 1990’s.

Richard Horne @richrap3d.bsky.social · 05/08/2026
That’s a fair point, maybe a bullet hell vertical shooter is not such a great example. How about Gauntlet II (Arcade) that does look quite cool as a square format and it plays nice too.

Richard Horne @richrap3d.bsky.social · 05/08/2026
If you have the option to play the exact correct screen ratio or just a tiny stretch to fill a 1:1 screen, what are you choosing? Check out Truxton II (Arcade) vertical shooter and you decide…

Richard Horne @richrap3d.bsky.social · 05/08/2026
Don’t all hate me but I love the way Gauntlet II (Arcade) looks when it’s pushed to 1:1 full screen rather than 4:3 aspect. Don’t worry, the Pocket fully supports running at correct ratio too, but it’s quite cool to see that just a little stretch on Arcade games.

Really happy with the low power usage on the MiSTerFPGA Handheld electronics now. We are using just 3.5watts running Doom on the Ao486 Core. That must be the lowest power MiSTer (Cyclone5) ever. No fan or Heatsink needed. #Multisystem2 Pocket

Thanks, I’ll take a look. We are testing 4800mAh & 5400mAh models at the moment, but very interested in where we will get with 21700 cells in the future.

Handheld MiSTer testing has gone well this week. 2 x 21700 Battery cells and life is looking around 10 to 11 hours on the PlayStation Core. The Gameboy is looking like 12 Hours. Zaparoo front end is looking really good too.

The BBC didn’t make it, they granted us a license to use the BBC name on it. We designed and manufactured it in the UK 1984. (Heber Ltd.) If you need any info about the project, all the development and story behind it, let me know. It was part of the BBC2 late night bridge TV series.

The Arcade Archive has a number of Arcade PCB’s on eBay. They are priced to sell so it’s easier to do these table sales a few times a year. Very good day today, lots of sellers and plenty of free stuff too. Hopefully you can make it one day 👍

I’m finishing the weekend with a blast from the past. Not had Angel Delight for well over 30 years… It’s not as you remember, but still gets 7/10 on the Nostalgia scale. 😊 Use just 200ml of chilled milk instead of the 300ml it recommends. 👍

The AI induced RAM shortage & price increases are getting very serious now and the future only shows further increases. Long delays for component orders and constant price rises. Its affecting the entire electronics sector.
