Henry, seen here demonstrating some incorrect stile usage @lakesstiles.bsky.social
Why use a stile when you can walk around the side? Why use a stile when you can just jump over the wall?

A #closepass on double white lines approaching a blind brow of a hill. Once again #DurhamPolice have deemed that this is perfecly acceptable and not worthy of even a warning letter. It's a beautiful part of the world to #cycle around but a shame that the local police do not care about #roadsafety

Took the little man up Skiddaw Little Man today. We were aiming for the main summit but was blowing a v wet gale on the top. He wasn't impressed, so we bailed on trying the final ridge. And here are some high Lake stiles for you @lakesstiles.bsky.social. The one he's posing at is at 825m
Already knackered but enjoying the view just before we entered the cloud lineThe lower (740m) recreational stile below the little manLittle Man at the Little Man (865m). And looking very unimpressed too At the high stile between Skiddaw and the Little Man at 825m. Can we just get down the hill now?

Saltburn pier occupies the left hand side of the photo, vanishing into the sea by the middle of the p8cA view down the pier looking out to sea. 2 neat rows of benches line either side of the pier providing views towards Redcar on the left and the cliffs at the edge of the Yorkshire Moors to the rightA plank level view of the pier deck looking inland towards the amusement arcade at the land end of the pier and behind it the funicular railway leads up to the hotels and houses on top of Saltburn BankA view from the top of the funicular railway. The rather wonderful sheep and grouse stone stille. Carved by Keith Alexander in 1999. Above Holwick Scar, #Teesdale #NorthPennines @lakesstiles.bsky.social
The sheep and grouse stile at Holwick Scar
The stile itself is a standard wooden step but it has two stone pillars carved from sandstone. The pillars have a spiral design with grouse carved in. The grouse are face to face with lifesize sheep, one next to each pillar. The sheep and grouse stile at Holwick Scar

Does it count as a stile? Well it's right by the church, and it's outside a house called "Kirkstile" so I think that's a yes. #Romaldkirk #Teesdale @lakesstiles.bsky.social

Another great read from @jackthurston.bsky.social. My adventure a few years ago was a bit different but can confirm the road between Hope and Altnaharra is one of the best bits of cycling ever. I saw one other car the whole way. If its of interest: www.richmay.co.uk/allpointsnor...

Took a 75 mile ride out to #Hartlepool yesterday. I'd only ever been once before to the football ground 30 odd years ago. Theres some good stuff there, but it's hidden and poorly signed which is a definite shame
The old Friarage Manor House. Built after the dissolution on the friary site it has served various functions including hospital and work house. I got this info from Google afterwards as it's just sitting boarded up and with no signs anywhere that I could findAt the end of the headland is this canon brought back from Sebastopol after the Crimean War. It's next to the interesting looking Heugh Battery Museum which I didn't stop at but will return to. It looks interesting but again, I stumbled upon it without any obvious signage towards itThere are some lovely looking old parts around the harbour. There could be a great little walking tour to visit them The tall ship outside the town museum. I think you can get to it quite easily be car, but it didn't seem easy on foot/bike. This was as close as I could get

Probably because it was incredibly hot and sunnyA similar photo to the last one but ruined by the inclusion of a chunky sweaty man in the foreground Another view of the Bridge from the (closed) northern landing pointFrom the same place as pic 1, but looking across the Tees towards Middlesbrough FC Riverside Stadium

@impq.bsky.social I know I didn't do my homework (again) this week but please don't make me do this. It would only be the second play it would ever have but that's still too many (I only bought it because I had every other genesis album on vinyl)

Pint 87! Some more numbers for you. 4300 donations are needed every day. 140000 new donors are needed every year. Only 2% of people who are eligible to donate do. If you think you might be able to, please visit www.blood.co.uk. Give donation a shot in the arm.
A needle in my arm taking donation number 87. Yes you do feel it when it goes in but its short lived and there is no pain once you are flowing. You just get to put your feet up for a bitYou are brilliantly cared for by the teams at all the donation centres, and they travel around so you can fine one near you (or you can be like me and travel around a bit, see your region, and maybe donate a little bit soonerI claim no credit for this great art work. Some ace painted rocks on the recovery table next to the big pile of squash, crisps and biscuits in the Newton Aycliife centre today
