I made a stand-in for lining up the camera. I decided I should make it look more artistic. I made a monster. Its name is Big Bertha the Destroyer. I put it away at night. I do not need to encounter it at head-height in the dark.

I live in the city, by the way. I’m not exactly thrilled about this.

So. I’ve managed to average 0.0kWh/100KM on two separate trips (4-6km). That happened on a route which was largely downhill, minimal stopping and going, low speeds, and mild weather with no climate usage. The return trip is… not that, but I just find that so interesting I had to mention it.

I got another Level 1 EV charging update. Last night, 18 hours of 120v charge time got me 21% increase in charge (65% to 86%). Not a lot, right? Well today, I drove over 100km. I only used 17% of the battery - 86% to 69%. Very efficient driving helped, but that’s an example of how Level 1 is useful.

Not worth it - what displays on my screen is within my jurisdiction, not web developers.

This month’s numbers are in: by switching to an EV, in these past two weeks I’ve saved approximately $110-$180 on fuel. I roughly estimate between $185-$250 on fuel based on my driving, if I kept the Corolla. The bZ has cost me $66. Including public charging.

I think it’s about time I made a proper video talking about my early experiences with this #toyotabz EV, and what it’s been like for me, someone who drives lots and only has 120v (level 1) charging at home. Spoiler: charging like that has been fine.

With the way I’ve been driving this month, I could have spent up to about $290 on fuel if I kept my previous car (non-hybrid Corolla). If I had my bZ for this whole month, charging at home would’ve cost me… $35. I’m serious. These are just estimates, but it is pretty realistic for my scenario.

I must say that I am really quite enjoying my new EV. Even though at the moment I can only charge abysmally slowly at 120v, the experience so far has been nothing short of positive. Even still, 120v is not useless - it’s still recovering meaningful range. So far? I’m quite happy with my new car.

Brought my #toyotabz home. After a day of driving, I’m charging at home for the first time. There’s something really neat about that! So far, this is a very, very nice car, and an incredibly pleasant driving experience! Glad to have made the jump when I did!

Spent two hours filming my next video. Wanted to use the Blackmagic Camera app for greater control, but it requires external storage I don’t have yet. Used regular camera. 41GB of ProRes Log footage (only a few minutes lol). Tiny inconsistencies drove me crazy and I deleted it all.

My favourite thing about #atx is that I can hook up 2-year old power supplies to 27-year old computers. This PSU is over 8.5x more powerful than the original! I was testing to see if power delivery was the reason a GPU wasn’t working. Confirmed it’s not the power supply! #oldcomputer #cursed
