I don't know what the future holds, and nor do you. All I know is that anything that has the potential to hurt Farage is a good thing, and this fiasco could definitely hurt him. Maybe he wriggles out of it, Trump-style, or maybe it delivers a fatal blow. The investigations will carry on regardless.

He was going to win either way, which is why he called the election. The difference is that now he has lost control of the narrative, and looks profoundly foolish. This matters, because it will do irreparable harm to his image. Fascists don't like being mocked, and he is very thin-skinned.

The people of Clacton have already elected Farage, they aren't going to be pushed into his arms, 46% of them are already there. His calculus was that he would call an election and comfortably win. Now he looks like a clown. If you don't think that's a win, I can't help you.

They're not fighting him because this isn't a legitimate election, it's a stunt. The main parties not standing is exactly what Farage deserves. Once he gets suspended for misconduct they will stand against him. But doing it *on his terms* would be dumb.
