I prefer to focus energies on the case for the UK to prepare to apply to join the EU. #RejoinEU

Maybe some help could be offered, to lather behind down the spine for a beautiful cleansing.

The Intelligence and Security Committee of Parliament reported on this matter in July 2020. Farridge will be aware of its contents, and is again attempting to mislead the unwary.

Manifesto commitment? The next UK parliamentary elections aren’t likely to be called until mid-2028. The consequences of leaving the EU are visible now in diplomatic isolation, barriers to trade, slower growth, delayed investment, and fewer adult study opportunities. Action is needed now.

When will the UK government act to make the acceptance by political organisations of money from outside the country a criminal offence? When will media owners be required by law to be based and paying taxes in the UK only? When will second jobs for MPs be outlawed?

Had an idea once for five-a-side beach soccer, using body paint and matching tail plugs. One special rule: no tail pulling.

The 25th amendment to the US Constitution is only as strong as the will of Congress to uphold, defend and protect it.

Wondering what to do about the US-born members of the Republican administration. Would deportation to Guantanamo Bay be an option?

You still haven’t explained why you brought up your opinion that Finnish is not a Scandinavian language.
010
richardfigureman @richardstandup.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
I didn’t bring up Finnish as a Scandinavian language, I’m comfortable with Finland and it’s people speaking their mother tongue and though a foreigner I admire and love their country deeply.

richardfigureman @richardstandup.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
Then why did you raise the topic? Finland is a Scandinavian country, part of the Nordic Council.

Now is your opportunity. What specific issues do you regard that the EU is struggling to find solutions for? The UK has capacity to be a good listener. I have friends in the Netherlands and Finland whom I would like to visit and greet in person before I die.

Barriers to trade imposed by the UK government against its own citizens has made ordering drinks prohibitively expensive. Still water or fruit juice helps to keep wits sharp and focused. It is written in the Kalevala: A sharp blade is the glory of a knife, a sharp mind the glory of a person.

Are you willing to listen? I’m not sure what specific issues you’re referring to. Maybe an alternative approach could help show the way to a durable solution applied together in common cause, and be monitored to assess its effectiveness.

This dialogue is part of building bridges, at the same time as making a consensus within the UK in the last three years. I don’t expect the EU to accept, or agree. I ask only that it be willing to listen, and then consider whether there is any merit in what has been outlined before it. Small steps.

Then we disagree about the UK understanding what keeping the peace in Europe meant and means. A fascist regime in the US which threatens its allies and neighbours, violates due process and kills its own citizens unlawfully is not trustworthy. That consensus work began in the UK three years ago.

An application to join implicitly accepts the acquis of EU law. For the avoidance of doubt, the terms of the UK’s membership during 1973-2020 no longer hold. They should neither be expected nor assumed. Climate change and a security threat to the east make the EU a valuable means to keep the peace.

The UK parliamentary election you refer to was held over two years ago. A simple plan for the UK to follow: 1. Fulfil outstanding WAA and TCA commitments. 2. Meet Copenhagen criteria as fully as possible. 3. Apply under A49 to the EU to join.

richardfigureman @richardstandup.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
1. Younger voters are those who will live longest. 2. All voters are likely to change their opinion during their lifetime. I change my mind, when the facts change. 3. Membership of the EU with no opt-outs or rebates is preferable to barriers to trade and diplomatic isolation as a third country.

Please read the questions. The EU applies its rules consistently, and I doubt would treat an application to join from the UK differently to that from Montenegro.

These were the questions actually asked. Let’s try getting the facts right. I wouldn’t regard any national election in an EU member state as ‘little’ - not even Malta. If you have an issue with democracy, I can’t help you.
