A ginnel. #photography #lensbaby
A photograph looking along a footpath between houses. The photo was taken with a Lensbaby Sweet 50 lens, which gives a circular blur around a central area in focus. The blur makes it feel a bit like you’re travelling down the ginnel.

There‘s been some puy lentils at the back of my kitchen cupboard for yonks. So I thought I’d try and find a recipe to use them. I cooked the “Lentils, Herbs and a Fried Egg“ recipe on this page for dinner tonight and, my word, it was nice. www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle...

Modern Cook: Adding an egg makes a meal of the most basic of bowlfuls. Try it baked with sweet seasonal greens for a hearty brunch, or fried and perched atop a mound of spiced lentils

I seen 26 of these shows. However 8 of them I abandoned part way through as they seemed to start well but then declined markedly in later shows or later seasons - including the number 1 on the list.

I enjoyed the new Sense and Sensibility film. The cinema was pretty full, but I think I was one of only two men in the audience. The air was heavy with perfume.

Just got back from seeing Pressure at the cinema. I loved it. Despite knowing the outcome, obviously, it was still tense. I liked the nerdy details of the meteorology and the acting was top notch.

A yacht passing below Catbells in the Lake District. #photography
A photograph showing a small yacht with a white sail passing below a fell that rises sheer from the lake, tress covering the lower slope then crags, heather and bracken covering the higher slopes. On the summit of the fell can be see the tiny figures of a surprising number people who have climbed this popular crag.

Castle Crag and Catbells. #photography
A photograph showing Castle Crag and Catbells in the Lake District. Woodland fills the bottom of the scene with a tall Catbells fell rising above, a path snaking up the ridge. The distinctive summit of Castle Crag rises to the left, covered in trees. The whole scene is blue with distance as it was photographed from Dodd Fell some distance away.

I’m on a train and we just rolled over a level crossing where an ambulance, with lights flashing, was waiting to pass. I guess we don’t pause trains for ambulances. Something I’ve never considered before.

A proper thunderstorm at last. Rain hammering down, prematurely dark, the room briefly lit by lightning outside followed swiftly by a crack of thunder.

I enjoyed The Dog Stars at the cinema tonight. Though the action scenes were all a bit implausible, but the scenes in between were much nicer. I think I would have preferred a film just about grief and a young man flying between beautiful peaceful settlements hidden amongst the lovely mountains.

I wouldn't call myself a cartoonist, but I had the vision and just needed it to be on paper to the best of my ability.
A hand drawn eight panel cartoon. First two panels are a colander sitting frowning on a shelf. Then the colander is frowning straining pasta, then three more panels of frowning sitting on a shelf. Then a big panel where it's projecting a bunch of crescent eclipse shapes and smiling with speech bubbles around saying "Wow! Look! Amazing! Beautiful!" And then one final panel where it's sitting on a shelf smiling.

During the Eclipse, I was taking photos to show the sunspots and spotted this patch on the sun suddenly appear then disappear. I wondered if it was some dust on the lens for a moment, but I think it is on the surface of the sun. Perhaps a solar flare? #SolarEclipse #Eclipse #AstroPhotography
A photograph of the sun being partially eclipsed by the moon, taken at 17:49:28. On the crescent shape of the sun that is visible, you can see a couple of clusters of sunspots and between them a large reddish patch.A photograph of the sun being partially eclipsed by the moon, taken 36 seconds later than the previous photo at 17:50:04. The reddish patch has gone, but the clusters of sunspots are still there.

The solar eclipse over Harrogate as it reached the peak coverage of the sun. #SolarEclipse #Eclipse
A photograph showing the crescent of the sun at the moment when the solar eclipse reached the peak over Yorkshire, with about 90% of the sun covered by moon. The photo is mostly dark with a few clouds lit by the bright crescent of the sun. A TV aerial can be seen in the foreground, as the sun was low over the rooftops.

Another DHL delivery due today. The question is: will they deliver it to the correct address this time? Last delivery from them was delivered to the wrong address and I had to wander down the street trying to find the door from the delivery photo.

Notification from DHL that they'd delivered my parcel, odd as I hadn't heard the doorbell. The photo on the delivery page showed a door I did not recognise. I went out and looked around nearby properties and found the parcel at a property on the next street. At least they got in the right town.
