@mrjamesob.bsky.social Here's a question for you: When do the deceived become the wilfully ignorant? I have seen many otherwise decent people become far right extremists in their thinking. Is it all algorithms and dopamine hits from GBNews? What's going on?

Cry for me Britannia. Over 85,000 children in Britain living in extreme poverty. Nursery-aged child hospitalised malnourished, caused heart condition, teeth removed. Govts prioritise arbitrary fiscal rules, won't tax the rich, redistribute. 1% has more wealth than 70% of the population combined.

Frontline workers say this is the worst level of child poverty they have seen, as more than half of families struggle to afford food.

1. We cannot now rule out the possibility of systemic collapse in the United States. If Trump and Musk paralyse the federal government, this could trigger social, financial and industrial failures. Neither Trump nor his team know how to respond to such failures, which could snowball and converge. 🧵

How Finland’s Left are beating the far right by rejecting austerity and championing workers rights. Labour, take notes. This is how it’s done. Not sensible adults in the room centrism. Left wing populism. A good read in the Tribune by @graceblakeley.bsky.social tribunemag.co.uk/2025/01/how-...

Everytime they tell you about the 22 million people on benefits, remember that 3/4's 15.5m are Pensioners. Of the other 1/4 more than 60% work, and severely disabled people do exist in the UK, millions of them.
