Cosplayers who self-draft patterns, I require your wisdom 😭 I’m trying to draft a high-low skirt that’s 15” in the front and 49” in the back with the train. Am I correct in thinking my pattern should basically look like a giant egg?

Good news: I finished ALL the bows. 🎀
Bad news: I’ve been responsible enough to realize I should absolutely NOT start the bodysuit tonight. www.patreon.com/ricepoison/p...

I would like it officially documented that excellent cosplay progress has occurred tonight. Under what exact crafting conditions?

Cosplay/convention PSA because apparently we need to talk about this: Perfume is NOT deodorant. Please wear deodorant. Please shower. Please take care of your con hygiene. However, covering yourself in perfume, cologne or body spray is not the solution.

If your staff’s response to a harassment report is to insult or dismiss the person reporting it… why should anyone feel safe at your event? We don’t need perfect conventions, but we do need ones that take safety and feedback seriously. That shouldn’t be a high bar.

I just realized something. The 30+ cosplayers in my local community could probably fit in one group chat. So why does it feel like we’re in 5 separate factions 😭 Can we PLEASE just get along for the sake of the younger cosplayers watching us?? Be honest… what’s your local scene like 👀

Thrift store dress

Sketchy drawing of my OC Susan. She is a petite brunette with a shy smile. The dress she's wearing has short sleeves and is covered in clashing colours and patterns. Polka dots, stripes, spirals, all in bright red, teal, pink, and so on.

I just think it’s wild how the person being harassed is always the problem—not, y’know, the person actually doing the harassing. 10 years of school: “Maybe don’t make yourself a target.” (I was literally the shy kid just existing.)

We’re down the rabbit hole of trying to figure out if a MLP adopt is stolen - but we’ve taken a detour and found an artist with really cute YCHs and I gotta commission them later — … but yes, we’re trying to figure out the origins of a MLP adopt and I haven’t found it on EQA or DA yet. 🧐

If you are a regular at conventions, I’m sure you’ve run into a booth named Salami Productions. This booth is run by a man named Marco. Marco regularly booths at Artist Alley, and has woven art displayed all over their booth alongside spicy stickers.

Not sure which cosplayer needs to hear this but perfume is not a substitute for deodorant. There may be others around you with scent allergies or sensitivities. Please be kind and keep con spaces accessible for everyone - LET US BREATHE.

Trying to do my “is this at least 70% handmade or heavily modified” for competition and plonking it into excel for a nice graph … should i put this graph in my build book? What would competition judges even do with a graph in a build book 🤔

A pie chart demonstrating how much of my latest cosplay project is handmade (68.2%), heavily modified (27.3%), or purchased (4.5%) to meet the “you must make at least 70% of your cosplay” threshold for an intermediate/journeyman cosplay competition.
