Korean fried seaweed
Went to one of my favorite Korean restaurants in Barcelona the other day. This place has the best _banchan_ in town, it’s just fantastic 🇰🇷 🥇
A few months ago, we were served a strange-looking green thing, fried and dusted with a bit of sugar. Upon asking, we were told these are fried seaweed.
It’s delicious 😋
Mind you, I don’t like the classic Japanese-style seaweed used in maki rolls and such. I can’t eat it 🙅♂️
This one, however, is something unique 😮
Every time we go, we ask if they have, and they tell us to call in advance so they can prepare them for us. Turns out most people don’t like it, so they stopped serving it as a complimentary appetizer 👌
The other day it looked to be a slow night as it was only our table and another one. No seaweed was served to us as we sat down. However, as we were finishing the food, the cook came out of the kitchen with a plate of fried seaweed and a box for take-away. He smiled and told us to enjoy it and take it home 😍
We thanked him multiple times, and we enjoyed our fried green vegetables. Turns out it worked in their favor, as we ordered a couple of more beers to hose down the vegetables. Sneaky! 😏
